Engage in a three-day workshop dedicated to fabricating part of an innovative bus shelter for the ColumBus transit system. Students at the J. Irwin Miller Architecture Program are re-imagining the bus stop experience within the rich architectural heritage of Columbus, IN. The biomimetic folded plate steel and glass canopy adapts to the climate conditions of the site and uses lessons from nature to maximize structural integrity through minimal material usage. The canopy anchors to the ground through custom precast concrete bases that also serve as seating elements. The workshop will focus a specific fabrication process related to either steel fabrication or precast concrete
