INFO FOR PARENTS
Electronics and Your Student
Research studies have shown the negative effects of screentime and the relationship to anxiety, depression and attention in children and teens. Before giving your student their own electronic device be sure to put parental controls into place. This can include limiting the amount of screentime and what websites/apps they have access to and protecting their privacy online.
Below you will find instructions with more information:
Local Mental Health Providers
As a School Counselor I am able to provide short-term counseling to your student. If you are in need of a longer-term mental health professional please see my list of local providers. If you need any additional assistance in locating a provider or receiving help please let me know.
In the event of an emergency call 911.
Release/Exchange of Information
If your student has a therapist it is often helpful for me to be able to communicate with that individual, especially if your student is having any difficulties at school. Please consider completing a Release/Exchange of Information. That way the therapist and I can share strategies and what works for your student. Then we can use these tools to help them be successful at school as well as home.
