Today's activity will have us explore how the Earth changes and how people impact it, as well as erosion, landforms, and earthquakes.
Take a look outside your house. What can you see? Maybe you’re near a river or lake. Maybe you’re near a mountain. Maybe there are farms with crops and animals or just rows and rows of houses. Regardless of what’s there, it didn’t always look like that. If you go back far enough in time, the land could have looked entirely different than it does now.

The Earth is constantly changing, even now. Over time, multiple natural and human factors affect the shape of the land. Tectonic plates cause changes in the structure of the Earth’s crust. Weathering and erosion cause changes in the look and shape of landmarks. Watch this video for more information about how natural factors affect the Earth.

Along with how the Earth is naturally changing, us people cause major changes to how the Earth looks. We build dams, houses, schools, offices and stores. We move materials, animals, and food from country to country. Everything we do can change the landscape over time. Watch this video to learn more about how people affect the Earth!
