Accessibility and Struggling Readers

Gomez is our geographer! A geographer studies the land,  features, and inhabitants to help governments and businesses plan where to construct houses and roads. Geographers gather their information through fieldwork and observations, satellite imaging, and even information from the government. 

Parker is a petrologist! A petrologist takes certain kinds of rocks and studies them in a lab, determining what exactly they are made of and the best way to extract those materials from the rock. This data can either be used to determine the best way to extract a large amount of rock from a naturally occurring location or to even research what time period the rock formation is from. 

Grace is our team’s geologist! A geologist is a special kind of scientist who studies rocks and their formation. For example, a geologist might study where a specific rock came from. Geologists also study the natural processes that rocks go through to change. Some of those processes can include earthquakes, volcanic eruptions, and even floods. 

Monae is REAL STEM's meteorologist! A meteorologist is essentially a weather expert; they use scientific principles to forecast the weather and how it will affect Earth’s atmosphere and the people that live there. If you watch the news in the morning, the person who tells you what weather to expect that day is a meteorologist, too!
