This flume in the basement of the Physical Sciences Building was built in the 1960's, lead by Tom Ore and Bud Rudesill.
It has a large, sediment recirculating pump and is ~10 m long, ~0.3 m wide and ~0.45 m deep.
In 2021, the tail box was resurfaced and in 2023 the channel was resurfaced and new plexiglass was installed.
It has a chain winch to adjust the slope at the upstream end.
It is used in courses to study sediment transport processes and flow dynamics (see photos and concept sketch below).
