The project began in the spring of 2022 as an initiative by several teachers and the Headmaster of the "Franco Sacchetti" Institute in San Miniato. Their commitment led, in June 2023, to the school's accreditation within the Erasmus+ 2024–27 Programme, funded by the European Union to support international mobility for students and teachers and to promote an international dimension through, among other things, CLIL methodology training for teaching staff.
The specific goal is to improve students' linguistic and intercultural skills and to raise awareness of environmental sustainability through the study of local products such as the San Miniato truffle, the focus of an international festival held annually in the Tuscan town.
To this end, the Erasmus team at the Sacchetti Institute began searching for the ideal exchange partner through the European School Education Platform, sponsored by the European Commission. Among the enthusiastic candidates participating in the selection videoconferences, the International School of Bergen in Norway stood out with its project focused on Norwegian fishery resources. This marked the beginning of the adventure "From San Miniato to Bergen and Back"
Enhance students’ language and intercultural skills via mobility and CLIL paths.
Promote environmental sustainability awareness through local product study (e.g. San Miniato truffle festival).
Strengthen digital citizenship skills via responsible social media and media use.
