Discernment Steps

The ISP Network asks all those interested in the AOH program to enter into an intentional discernment process before seeking nomination. We ask you to take the following steps:

Review the eligibility requirements to participate in the AOH program as an Ambassador or Companion.

Reflect on your understanding of Ignatian spirituality, 12-step recovery programs, and your willingness to share your story with others and be vulnerable.

Read the following characteristics of ideal candidates. Applicants who meet most of these criteria will be given priority for admission. If you have any hesitation or questions about applying after reading these, please contact ISP staff.

You are an ideal candidate for the Ambassadors of Hope program (as an Ambassador or Companion) if you:

    • Hunger for a deeper spiritual life that is rooted in Ignatian spirituality
    • Long to work for positive change in the world while strengthening your (or others') recovery

    • Know from experience that growth requires a process of change and shift in perspective that includes a healthy degree of spiritual humility and surrender
    • Demonstrate maturity, reliability and readiness for leadership opportunities within and beyond ISP
    • Are willing to be challenged while growing in community
    • Passionate about the mission and ministry of ISP and are eager to help the organization grow in depth and breadth
