ILIA Provides “I Can Lead” Coaching Program for Youth at Charles H. Hickey, Jr. School

A Six‑Month Journey of Leadership and Transformation

I Can Lead program provides youth with structured opportunities to explore their strengths, reflect on personal goals, and build the skills needed to navigate challenges with confidence. Through weekly sessions, participants learn how to make healthier decisions, communicate effectively, and develop a renewed sense of identity and purpose.

This October 31 session continued this developmental journey, offering a supportive environment where youth could engage openly, ask questions, and practice new leadership behaviors.

Group Coaching and Personalized Support

The program’s blended model ensures that each participant receives both community‑based learning and individualized attention. It includes:

• Group coaching sessions that build teamwork, communication, and shared learning

• One‑on‑one coaching that provides personalized guidance, accountability, and emotional support

This structure allows youth to grow socially while also receiving targeted mentorship that addresses their unique challenges and goals.

Building Skills for Life Beyond the Facility

Youth in the program develop essential life and leadership skills, including:

• Understanding personal strengths and values

• Setting goals and creating action plans

• Managing emotions and navigating conflict

• Strengthening communication and decision‑making

• Building confidence and a sense of purpose

These skills help prepare participants for successful reintegration into their communities, families, and future careers.
