I started the design of this shoe shop by asking myself what I did not like in today's shoe shops: there are essentially two things I do not like.
1) Customers can try on shoes in a limited space and judge whether they fit;
2) The shop assistants every time a customer asks to try on a shoe have to go to the warehouse and if the requested model is missing they have to come back with another model, trying to sell something anyway.
The shop consists of two pieces of furniture mainly:
-a multifunctional counter
-a sliding shelf that moves on 'rails'.
The multifunctional counter is in the shape of a staircase, consisting of four steps 100cm x 100cm and one 100cm x 165cm (on the latter is the cash desk and the computer can be placed). On the second and third steps there are cushions so that customers (depending on height) can sit down to try on shoes. The whole staircase can be used for walking while trying on shoes and judging whether they fit. This creates a 'parade' effect that people outside will see from the side window.
The slide-out shelf is useful for the salesperson, who does not have to go into the store every time to get the shoes requested by the customer, but at the same time the boxes (which are ugly to look at) are not placed in view, rather they are hidden, thanks to the morphology of the shelves.
These shelves operate either by cranks or by manual sliding. In addition, from a marketing point of view, this solves the problem of the customer being surprised to see the clerk return from the store with different shoes than those asked for, if they are not present.
The shop is primarily designed for sports shoes. that is why I have included a climbing wall, so that customers practising that sport can test whether the shoes perform their function well. In addition, since the plugs are made of stone, it also fulfils a decorative function.
Since the shop is primarily designed for sports shoes, I also redesigned the logo, which consists of a shoe slanting over a mountain. This inclination is also reflected in the design of the interior: the shoes on display are inclined both in the shop window and on the shelves, and the staircase, the co-protagonist of the design, is a symbol of inclination.
There is also a small warehouse in the shop, useful for storing products to be put back on the shelves at the end of the shift and for employees to put their personal belongings.
