The role of design in territorial redevelopment
"STAI Veneto" is an FSE research project led by IUAV, University of Venice involving architecture, urban planning, visual communication, and territorial design. My role focused on identifying and enhancing local heritage — architectural, cultural, familial, and artisanal — through participatory community engagement. This work led to the creation of a collaborative digital community map, designed to collect and narrate memories, places, and knowledge in a dynamic, multimodal way, overcoming the limits of static formats. The project concluded with a public conference and a scientific publication.
"The project proposes the development of a network of cycling routes connected to the Munich–Venice cycle corridor, where slow-paced exploration of the rural areas of eastern Veneto is integrated with the promotion of agro-food production activities. To support this network, the project foresees the strategic placement of interventions aimed at facilitating slow tourism, including the reuse of abandoned agricultural areas as new production and sales hubs. The adoption of digital technologies applied to a strategic communication system, together with local products and routes, contributes to enhancing the identity and distinctiveness of the territory. The long-term goal is to train professionals capable of managing territorial development from cultural, productive, and touristic perspectives, actively engaging with local ecosystems, including peripheral ones."
