Global be well day

Empathy is the ability to hold and create space for someone else to express themselves as they truly are.”

A message from Kim Green - Head of School

Wellbeing is at the heart of our ISHCMC Way as we inspire wellbeing and learning so that our diverse, internationally-minded community flourish as energized, engaged and empowered learners.

The physical and mental contributors or our Be Well Charter provide us with a framework to support our community to socially, emotionally and physically flourish. Each year we unite with our Cognita Sister schools around the world through our Be Well Charter to celebrate Global Be Well Day.

This year on Global Be Well Day our ISHCMC value of empathy provides us with a lens to explore the mental contributors to wellbeing; Connecting, Giving and Doing. On this day we will engage in activities, challenges and projects that will enable us to develop empathy.

Empathy is a skill and takes practice. When we practise it well we can better connect with someone else. This then gives us a greater understanding of someone’s thoughts, feelings, emotions and actions.

As an ISHCMC community, when we demonstrate empathy we empower each other to hold and create space for others so that they can express themselves as they truly are. When we demonstrate empathy everyone has the space to flourish. How will you demonstrate empathy on Global Be Well Day and beyond?

I share my gratitude to the Global Be Well Day 2021 organising team for the passion that they have brought to creating our GBWD 2021. I trust that this day will provide us with space and time to explore the mental contributors that enable us to flourish as energized, engaged, empowered learners.
