PARENT ANNOUNCEMENT (33)

APRIL 23, 2026

SUPERINTENDENT’S UPDATE

Dear Parents,

We look forward to welcoming students and staff back to campus on Sunday. Thank you to our school community for our ongoing partnership to support our students and their learning.

VIRTUAL LEARNING PARENT SURVEY

We are resharing the virtual learning survey that Campus Leadership shared last Sunday.  Although we are returning to on-campus learning on Sunday, we continue to welcome your feedback while it is fresh in your mind on virtual learning. We are seeking feedback in the following areas: overall satisfaction, student engagement and understanding, workload, scheduling, communication, teacher support and possible improvements.

Please note this is an anonymous parent survey and results will go to ISG's leadership team, your campus leadership and teachers for follow up and action for future virtual learning experiences.

Please ensure your feedback is thoughtful, clear, specific, relevant and respectfully constructive so meaningful adjustments can be made.

Thank you for your partnership.

RESOURCES FOR SUPPORTING OUR COMMUNITY

Across our schools, counseling teams will be supporting students as we return to on-campus. Students will have opportunities to connect with trusted adults, reflect on their experiences and access support where needed. Our goal is to ensure that every student feels seen, supported and able to re-engage in a way that is right for them.

We are resharing some resources that you may deem helpful:

    1. This document shares links to direct resources staff and parents can use to support students.

    2. In addition, this document, has been provided by our regional education learning partner NESA, that includes information on how staff and families can support young people in a time of crisis.

Periods of uncertainty and disruption can affect each of us differently. Some students and adults may feel eager and energized to return to on-campus, while others may feel anxious, unsettled or simply tired. All of these responses are normal and valid.

Upon our return, we will focus on re-establishing routines, rebuilding connections and creating space for students to process their experiences at a pace that feels appropriate for them.

We also encourage families to continue conversations at home and to access the resources shared above. These materials remain highly relevant and have been re-shared to support this transition back to school.

As always, if you have concerns about your child’s wellbeing, please do not hesitate to reach out to your school’s counseling team.

We are grateful for the strength, resilience and care that defines our community. We look forward to welcoming our students back and moving forward together with compassion and purpose.

UPDATE ON AFTER-SCHOOL ACTIVITIES

Athletics and after-school activities will not be held during the first week in which we are back for all grade levels, and will not return for the remainder of the year for elementary/primary students. The after-school activities were planned to begin while we were in virtual learning and end on May 30.  These activities have not been organized while teachers and staff were conducting virtual learning or during the recent Eid/Spring Break holiday.

Teachers and staff will be focused on supporting students’ return back to on-campus learning from an academic perspective as well as ensuring a reconnection with and between students, creating meaningful learning experiences inside the classrooms and supporting students in asynchronous learning.

We appreciate your continued engagement as we transition learning.

THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN SYNCHRONOUS & ASYNCHRONOUS LEARNING

Synchronous learning means students and teachers are learning together at the same time. It is similar to  being in a live class but through a virtual connection:

    • The teacher is sharing in real-time with students.

    • The teacher can see students on camera.

    • Students can ask questions right away.

    • Students might chat or have social time with one another virtually.

In this model, everyone is learning at the same time and most recently this has been through virtual learning.

Asynchronous learning means students are learning independently as guided by their teacher through digital resources.  They can do the work when it is the best time for them.

    • The teacher gives students lessons, videos or activities through on-line posting.

    • Students can complete learning at any point during the day.

    • Students don’t have to be online at a specific time because the teacher is not instructing in real-time.

    • Students can pause, rewind or take breaks.

In this model students are learning at different times independently.

Even though teachers enjoy live time with students (talking, seeing faces, social time), the students who are not coming back to on-campus learning will use asynchronous learning, so they can still learn and continue their school year on their own schedule.

Also, please note that parents that have chosen to enroll their children in asynchronous learning must remain in that approach. The only exception is for families that are currently outside of the Kingdom, are returning at a later date and are planning to join their school in on-campus learning upon their return.

All other students will not be allowed to move between on-campus learning and asynchronous learning from day-to-day or week-to-week. This approach is to ensure students are supported at the highest level in their chosen learning approach.

MULTIPURPOSE SPACE UPDATE

We are eager to share that the multipurpose space (MPS) on the Dhahran campus has been completed and will be in use next week by our PE teachers. We look forward to welcoming our students, staff and parents into the space.

You can see updated photos of the facility here.
