PARENT ANNOUNCEMENT (31)

APRIL 9, 2026

SUPERINTENDENT’S UPDATE

Dear Parents,

I would like to update you that ISG will remain in virtual learning through Thursday, April 30, 2026, with a planned return to in-person instruction on Sunday, May 3, 2026 based upon ongoing risk considerations for safety. The Ministry of Education is aware of our plans and rationale for this decision.

Many factors were considered by leadership in this recommendation including the risks associated with ongoing security alerts and information from the U.S. Consulate directly, in particular, the specific threats to American affiliated organizations and U.S. educational institutions as well as shelter-in-place advisories. For those in our community who may be unaware, all ISG campuses are classified and licensed as an American Community School within the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Another factor was the specific recommendation for Americans to refrain from gathering in large groups in a single location. We also considered that the largest number of attacks in Saudi Arabia are being reported in the Eastern Province.

At ISG, our school has a unique view of risk given that we are an American Community School with American students and American staff.

We are monitoring all aspects of this regional conflict and the impact it is having on us in Saudi Arabia. We are hopeful that the ceasefire will translate into a sustainable solution forward and we continue to monitor developments in the Eastern Province closely.  However, we have reached out to the U.S. Consulate and there is no current decision to adjust the advisories or alerts given that the attacks on Saudi Arabia and the region have continued even after the ceasefire announcement. In addition, ISG is ensuring that all local labor law requirements are being adhered to in regards to our staff’s work expectations given the current regional situation.

Please be assured that during this continued virtual period, we remain deeply committed to delivering a quality virtual education to your children. In order to best support these experiences, our campus leadership teams will be circulating parent and student surveys early next week to gather feedback and areas for improvement in virtual learning. These surveys will be sent to all ISG parents and to students in Grades 6-12 and Years 7-13. This survey is designed to gather specific recommendations to support student learning and success. We kindly ask for your participation to ensure your voice is heard as we navigate these developments together.

Lastly, we have been unable to respond individually to each email received by leadership as timely as we would like given competing priorities. Therefore, leadership has developed a document with trends on ideas and inquiries from our community for your reference.  We appreciate your taking the time to read through this information to build greater knowledge and understanding of the ISG context.

RETURNING FAMILIES RE-ENROLLMENT

We recognize the challenging circumstances that some families may be navigating or needing more time to confirm decisions for the coming school year.

Therefore, please be reminded that the re-enrollment deadline for the 2026-27 school year has been extended until April 11, 2026, and the respective invoices will be issued after this date.

As you consider your situation, please ensure you are coordinating with our Enrollment Team at enrollment@isg.edu.sa. ISG looks forward to continuing to partner with your family in the learning for your children and we want to understand your family’s potentially unique situation and ensure we are clear about our processes.

REMINDER FROM THE SAUDI MINISTRY OF INTERIOR REGARDING POSTING ON SOCIAL MEDIA

The Ministry has directed that individuals refrain from photographing or broadcasting footage related to missile interceptions or security operations, in order to prevent unnecessary concern and the circulation of inaccurate information. Social media platforms are being monitored accordingly.  We encourage individuals to also not post on social media in ways that could be viewed as disrespectful to the significance of the current situation for individuals and countries in the region.

As a community, we encourage all families and staff to rely on official sources for information and to exercise responsibility and discretion when using social media. Our priority remains the safety of our students, employees and families, and we are grateful for your cooperation and understanding.
