PARENT ANNOUNCEMENT (04)
SEPTEMBER 11, 2025
SUPERINTENDENT’S UPDATE
Dear Parents,
At ISG, our strategic priority of High Quality Learning goes beyond the classroom. While academic excellence forms the foundation of our schools, we recognize that real-world experiences can also be very impactful for students
Week Without Walls (WOW week) reflects this philosophy by providing students with opportunities to extend their learning into new environments, cultures and communities. Through travel, service projects and hands-on experiences, students gain deeper conceptual understanding, strengthen critical thinking and apply their skills in meaningful contexts.
The benefits of Week Without Walls reach far beyond academics. By visiting new countries, navigating unfamiliar settings and working collaboratively with peers, students develop independence, resilience and a stronger sense of global citizenship.
These experiences broaden perspectives, foster empathy and prepare our learners to thrive in a rapidly changing, interconnected world. Information about WOW week trips and travel destinations for this year has been sent out from each campus over the last two weeks.
Grounded in our commitment to High Quality Learning, Week Without Walls ensures that ISG students are well-prepared academically and also equipped with the life skills and confidence needed for success in the future.
AMERICAN SCHOOL DHAHRAN RECOGNIZED BY ASSOCIATION FOR MUSIC IN INTERNATIONAL SCHOOLS (AMIS)
I am pleased to share that ASD has received a new digital membership badge from the Association for Music in International Schools (AMIS).
This badge represents ASD’s ongoing commitment to exceptional music education and our connection to a global community that champions the power of the arts in students’ and teachers’ lives.
A heartfelt thank you to Mr. Ned Fortescue and Ms. Lauren Cole, who lead our music program at ASD. Their dedication, expertise and passion ensure that music at ASD is a transformative experience that fosters talent, confidence and lifelong appreciation for the arts.
FEEDBACK FROM FIRST PARENT ENGAGEMENT PROGRAM SESSION
Following the successful launch of our Parent Engagement Program on August 27, we were pleased to receive highly positive feedback after the event. Click here for parent testimonials submitted after the workshop. Parents engaged in thoughtful discussions around ISG’s three strategic priorities, Wellbeing & Belonging, High Quality Learning and Professional Excellence.
During the workshop, parents provided insight on the three priorities regarding; what excites them about each priority, what ideas they would like to share on each priority and what questions they have on each priority.
All parent feedback was captured and shared with ISG’s leadership team to help guide our next steps as we continue to strengthen our parent and community partnerships.
Our review process includes what feedback can immediately be considered for implementation, what feedback aligns with plans and goals we are already working on, what feedback requires more thought, discussion and consideration, and what areas have we already explored and know we are not able to implement.
Leadership will be sharing with the community in various ways throughout this school year follow-up information as these areas for implementation are considered. Some larger themes from the feedback were around communication, experiential learning, career pathways, mental health and wellbeing, digital citizenship and technology use.
We are grateful to our parents for their active participation and look forward to building on this collaboration throughout the year. The next two opportunities will be virtual on the ISG Budget and Board Nominations. We encourage you to please engage with these opportunities as well.
REMINDER: UPCOMING PARENT ENGAGEMENT PROGRAM (PEP) SESSION:
THE ISG BUDGET PROCESS - VIRTUAL
I am pleased to invite you to the next session in our Parent Engagement Program: The ISG Budget Process.
This video presentation will share with parents more information on how ISG is organized legally and financially, insights into how international schools operate, how we determine the priorities for funding for our important educational needs balancing affordability with sustainability, and how ISG develops its annual budget, including allocations for daily operations as well as long-term needs.
This session will be recorded and shared with our ISG community in early October.
A feedback form will be shared as a part of each of these next two sessions for parents to share questions or ideas you may have after watching the recording and learning more. This feedback will be reviewed and considered by leadership in preparing the initial budget for consideration by the Board as well as shared with the Board for awareness on parent’s interests and insights.
We look forward to continuing our partnership with parents through these opportunities in terms of transparency and understanding around the financial resources that support our students’ learning and growth.

Information has been sent to all high school and senior students.
You can find information about upcoming visits here.
ISG PARENT COMMUNICATIONS PROTOCOLS
At ISG, we welcome an ongoing partnership with parents through communication and feedback. Communication and feedback are most effective if the interaction is between the people closest to the situation. To support this approach, please see the above infographic to support this partnership.
If you have a question, concern or feedback, please reach out to your child's teacher. If the matter requires further attention, the teacher will share the feedback with the campus leadership (assistant principal or principal) for your child’s campus. Should the situation require further guidance or support at the central office level, the principal will share with the assistant superintendent or superintendent.
In cases where a parent communication relates to a potential breach of ISG Board policy, the superintendent should be alerted for follow-up and then if further engagement is needed, the matter can be shared with the Board of Trustees for further review.
This approach ensures that question, concern or feedback are handled efficiently while keeping an open line of communication between parents and school leadership. We appreciate your trust and partnership in fostering a supportive learning environment for all students.
