Clive Chan
Currently a freelance percussionist of Hong Kong Chinese Orchestra and Toolbox Percussion as well as a member of Four Gig Heads Percussion Group, Clive Chan graduated from Hong Kong Baptist University with a BA in Music and University of Central Florida with a MA in Music, majoring in Percussion.
His teachers include Mr. Luk Kin Bun, Percussion Principal of the Hong Kong Chinese Orchestra, Ms. Sophia Woo Shuk-fai, Percussionist of the Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra and Prof. Jeffrey Moore, Prof. Kirk Gay and Dr. Thad Anderson. He also studies drum set with Kwan Shing, drummer of the local band “Prune Deer”. Chan has a diverse performing experience all over the world, including U.S.A., Australia, Austria, the Netherlands, Japan, Singapore, Malaysia, etc. He performed during the 2008 Olympic Games, Hong Kong International Chinese New Year Night Parade and was the timpanist for “Video Games Live Tour Hong Kong Stage”.
Chan has also performed with pop singers including Kay Tse, Supper Moment and RubberBand. As an educator, Chan is currently serving as percussion instructor in various primary and secondary schools, teaching both Western percussion lesson and Chinese percussion.
