Coach Sand

Coach Ozzie Sand has been coaching for six years now. He started his coaching career at Zumbrota-Mazeppa High School, where he coached for two years. While coaching here, he taught Physical Education and Health and was the Activities Coordinator at Rochester STEM Academy. During his first year at Z-M, he was a volunteer Varsity Coach, while his second year there he was the Head Coach for 9th Grade and the Varsity Offensive Line and Special Teams Assistant Coach. While Coach Sand was at Zumbrota-Mazeppa High School, they made it to the Section Championship. Four years ago, Coach Sand began teaching and coaching at Jordan High School, where he coached the 7th, 8th, and 9th grade football teams. This last year Coach Sand began coaching as the Varsity Offensive Coordinator and the Junior Varsity Head Coach. Coach Sand is also the Assistant Varsity Coach for the Boys & Girls Golf Team, involved in the weight lifting program, and refs Boys & Girls Junior High Basketball games.

Coach Sand grew up in Mazeppa, MN and graduated from Zumbrota-Mazeppa High School. Following graduation, he attended Hamline University, where he received a degree in Physical Education and Health, with a Minor in Education. While at Hamline University, Coach Sand played Offensive Line for five seasons. He was named Team Captain in his final season with the Pipers. After teaching Physical Education and Health for two years, Coach Sand attended Concordia St. Paul to earn his Master's Degree in Special Education. Currently, Coach Sand is working as a Special Education teacher at Jordan High School. He is engaged to Brooke, and they will be getting married in June 2017.
