I'm also known as a scarlet maple or a water maple. I can be around 100 ft tall! I am normally the first one to change colors in the fall. The U.S. Forest Service recognizes me as the most abundant native tree in eastern North America. A red maple tree doesn't live a very long life only about 80 to 100 years compared to the human life expectancy,which is only about 79 years.
