Vegan Lunch Options?
By Lance Wyatt
This is a question for many, the school at the moment has no completely vegan options and very little vegetables and fruits at that. Although some argue that fresh food, especially vegetables, would be very expensive and would be hard to keep fresh, costing even more money that the school doesn’t have. Is there a simple fix? We will be returning the food costs back into place around the second quarter of school, it does not have a fully decided date but will be put back this year. Your parent/guardian will need to pay for school lunch soon and the vegan option may cost extra money. I did a poll and interviewed 61 people and found 78.68% of the people said we should have vegan options and 21.31% said we should not have vegan options (out of 61 people who wanted to do the poll.) The idea that we should have vegan options won but not necessarily by a landslide. Many still think we should not, most believing that it will cost more money.
What is right, is for you to decide. We could make a change and give this option- the pros being vegans get a lunch option and will not be forced to eat meat or to not eat at all. Cons being it will cost more money- but does the good outweigh the deficit and who in fact will take this to the top by telling and asking the school board or anyone in a position of power on this subject it would be a big change, but will it be for the better?
