What would I do on Student Council?
On Student Council, students work on issues or projects mainly in the following catagories:
Addressing student concerns
Planning events & spirit weeks
Community outreach
Designing posters/flyers
Appreciating staff, students, and parents
Overseeing bulletin boards and public announcement areas around the school
Who can join Student Council?
Any OEMS student! Students in all grades are welcome to apply, but Officer and Chairperson positions are generally reserved for upperclassmen.
How big of a commitment is Student Council?
Student Council will take up at least one and a half hours of your time per week, but this can vary. Members are expected to also complete additional work outside of SC meetings and WINs.
When does Student Council meet/What if I can't make it to meetings?
Student Council meets during WIN 1-2 times per week, and Mondays after school. Members are expected to attend meetings at least 80% of the time. Homework is not an acceptable excuse for absence. Conflicts with other activities are taken care of on a one-by-one basis.
