Mayo Stage Door

Mayo stage door is a supportive and welcoming community for anyone interested in any aspect of live theatre, on or off stage. They’d love to meet you!

Mayo Stage Door Productions is the name of Mayo High School's theatre company. Its mission is to develop performance and technical skills in all of its members in order to create community, life skills, and satisfying pieces of theatrical art. They put on three shows a year: a fall musical, a competitive winter one-act, and a spring play.

In typical years, Mayo Stage Door Productions operates primarily out of the auditorium. It is an extracurricular activity; not a club.  Registration is required through the Activities Office.

The regular meeting time for this group is after school into the evening, typically 3:30-5:30, Monday through Friday; however, the schedule changes with needs and timing of each production.

Awards and Honors: Mayo stage door is a Hennepin Theatre Trust Spotlight School, which means they are part of a statewide theatre community. They receive an evaluation and feedback on their fall musical from theatre professionals and receive creative opportunities and support throughout the year.

Mayo Stage Door raises money through ticket sales and t-shirt/flower/refreshment sales at performances. They also participate in fund raising activities like Cub Foods bagging in the lead up to shows to collect some donations and get the word out about the performances.

How to join: MHS students interested in extracurricular theatre can audition to become a performer or complete an application for technical crews.  Timely information is posted in the 300 hallway outside of Room #2-303.  All participants must register at www.mayospartans.org and will be added to the Google Classroom. To become involved, students must register through the Activities Office and pay the registration fee.

Student Leadership: The student leader for this year is Erin Stoeckig, Stage Manager. Students can apply and train for crew heads positions (Stage Manager, Assistant Stage Manager, Props Master, Costumer, Lights Lead, Sound Lead, House Manager, Assistant Director and others). Acting roles are cast by show through an audition process.

Moderator: Mrs. Monson

Directing the One Act Play Competition: Ms. Kim Hill
