Mayo Honor Society

The Mayo Honor Society (MHS) strives to create opportunities for its members to be involved in developing their character, leadership skills, academic performance, and ability to serve their community. Members also strive to use these skills during the school year by participating in many volunteer opportunities, including tutoring their peers.

Membership in Mayo Honor society is open to juniors and seniors who have completed the application process and have been accepted into the society.

Students must apply to be a member. The application process opens every Spring for sophomores and juniors.

Requirements:

- Must have a 3.5 weighted GPA

- Must not have any behavioral referrals

- Must demonstrate experience and a willingness to uphold the four pillars of Mayo Honor Society: Leadership, Character, Academics, and Community Service

Major events and activities: Honor Society Members frequently tutor other students in study halls and assist teachers in their classroom.

Trick or Contribution is the group's big fall event. Members dress up and collect non-perishable food from houses in the Mayo zone instead of candy. These items are then donated to the S.O.S. room at Mayo.

Throughout the year Honor Society members participate in several elementary school carnivals. They also help with the Gateway Science Fair and volunteer at charity runs.
