Why should I join the PPT?

The PPT serves as a platform for parent and teacher involvement within our school. All parents and guardians are members of the PPT simply because your child attends Lincoln, giving ALL parents and guardians, staff representatives, and the principal voting rights in the business of the PPT and the expenditures of money raised by the PPT. By attending meetings, you get to vote on the many important decisions. The PPT also provides a forum for access to teachers and administration, and gives you insight on what is happening within the school.

Do I need to pay a fee to join the PPT?

The Lincoln K-8 PPT covers dues so all parents can be involved as active participants in the future of our school at no cost. Each year, our PPT also pays a small amount of dues to support the state and national organizations that work to address laws that affect our schools and education system. Outside of these due, PPT retains all of the money we raise within the school and make our own decisions regarding our budget.

But, I’m just too busy…

Life is busy! Lucky for you, there are many ways in which you can support PPT that do not require an ongoing commitment or large chunks of time. It takes ALL OF US to support our children and our school. Here are some easy ways to get involved!

1) Attend a monthly meeting. Our meetings are on the third Monday of each month from 7:00 - 8:00pm and listed on the event page. The meetings occur in a relaxed atmosphere and place no pressure on attendees. This is a great way to meet other Lincoln parents and connect with the school.

2) Volunteer. We have many events throughout the year that require volunteers to be successful. Volunteering can be as simple as helping one time at a family social event or can be done as part of one of our committees that help plan activities and fundraisers. Volunteering is the easiest way to fit some PPT fun into your busy schedule! Be sure to register with Volunteers In Education (VIE) if you will be within the school while volunteering.

3) Spread the word. Our meetings, activities, organization and school are at their best when we have active family engagement. Even if you can't attend an event, help us spread the word to ensure all families are aware of what is happening around Lincoln and how we can best support our school community.

4) Donate. There are many ways in which you can donate to Lincoln.

  • Turn in your Hy-Vee receipts. For every $25 in receipts, Lincoln receives $1.

  • Shop with Amazon Smile, adding Lincoln K-8 as your charity of choice.

  • Scan your grocery receipt in the Box Tops for Education app within 14 days of purchase. Set Lincoln K-8 as the recipient of your earnings.

  • Donate items, services, or gift cards to our annual auction. The auction is our largest fundraiser that supplies our budget, and thus, supports many of the unique things that makes Lincoln K-8 special.

  • Earn a tax deduction by making a monetary donation. Click here to make a donation today!
