Kindergarten Distance Learning

March 30, 2020

Dear Parents,

As of Tuesday, March 17, 2020, PEM schools were closed due to the COVID-19 Global Pandemic. First and foremost, our concern remains with the health and welfare of our students, but as educators we have a responsibility to strive to provide the best education for our students that we can during this turbulent time. We have not faced a challenge of this nature during our lifetimes, so much of what we will do will be trial and error. We will do our best to "get it right" the first time, but please understand much of what happens, or what we are being asked to do, is beyond our control.

We understand that many of you are doing double duty--still doing your own jobs and then having to come home and home-school your own children. Many of us are in the same boat! The last thing we want is to overwhelm you or your children. The following information provides a guide of what you can do each day/week throughout the remainder of the year should we be closed for the duration. It looks overwhelming, but take it a day at a time. We have provided weekly checklists to guide you. Do what you can. Feel free to make copies of the materials that are in the page protectors.

We will be checking in with you a few times a week, but you are welcome to contact any of us whenever you feel a need. If you are trying to reach one of us after hours, we will do our best to respond within 24 hours. We are required to take attendance, so we are asking by the end of the week, you take a picture of the weekly checklist and send that to your child’s teacher. We will take our daily attendance from the entries on that checklist.

Be safe. Use social distancing. Stay home. Wash your hands. Love your family.
