On Saturday, what Russian officials say was a truck bomb hit the Kerch Bridge, which links Russia with the Crimean Peninsula, which Russia illegally annexed from Ukraine in 2014. A senior Ukranian military official said to NYT that the attack was "excellent." They said that the operation "showed the failure of the Russian system to guarantee the security even of the most significant and sacred targets." The official said that the bridge "connects the thief to his stolen property" and that "all that is unnatural and obtained illegally must be and will be destroyed." On Sunday, Putin said that it was "a terrorist act directed at the destruction of critically important civilian infrastructure of the Russian Federation." This statement was released a while after Russia launched at least twelve missiles at the city of Zaporizhzhia early Sunday morning, causing the death of at least 14, injuring 89 others and destroying several residential buildings, including at least 20 homes and 50 apartment buildings. 11 children were hospitalized. Ukranian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that the attack was "absolute evil" and that the "savages and terrorists" would be brought to justice. "It was a deliberate strike," he said. "The one who gave the order and those who carried it out knew what they were targeting." Recently Zaporizhzhia has encountered lots of attacks from Russia. 19 people were killed on Thursday. Emergency workers dug for survivors in the rubble of a nine-story collapsed building. "Again, Zaporizhzhia. Again, merciless attacks on civilians, targeting residential buildings, in the middle of the night," Zelenskyy wrote in a Telegram post. The Ukranian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba called for an international investigation, calling Russia's attack a war crime.

Republican Herschel Walker is running for the Senate in Georgia, in a key race against the current Senator, Democrat Raphael Warnock. "It's up to Georgia voters. It's not up to him, it's not up to me." Warnock said to reporters. "We do know that my opponent has trouble with the truth. And we'll see how this all plays out, but I am focused squarely on the healthcare needs of my constituents, including reproductive healthcare." This is an incredibly important race in Georgia. Many Republicans have endorsed Walker, despite claims of domestic violence and that he has lied repeatedly about his business record, involvement in law enforcement, and academic achievements. Former President Trump claims that Walker is being "slandered and misaligned."

That's the news for today! Stay safe!
