Found Poem
Found poetry is a type of poetry created by taking words, phrases, and sometimes whole passages from other sources and reframing them by making changes in spacing and lines, or by adding or deleting text, thus imparting new meaning.
Requirements:
Write a Found Poem, using at least five important quotes/lines that develop a character’s perspective on the selected theme of the Macbeth.
Use at least five important quotes/lines that develop a character’s perspective on the selected theme of the Macbeth.
Review the quotes from the play.
Highlight key ideas, words, and phrases from these lines.
Decide upon the exact words or phrases that you want to use for your Found Poem. Circle these words or phrases.
Create a master list of all the extracted text selections. You may have more text selections on this list than you plan to use. That is okay - consider this a rough draft “excursion,” seeking out all of the possible words, phrases, and lines.
Your poem should follow your choice of poetic form. If you choose to write a free verse poem, your poem should be at least 20 lines.
Re-read the lines, phrases, and words collected and considered the most effective arrangement to demonstrate the theme.
Keep in mind that your poem should be directed at a specific audience.
Compose the poem by combining or eliminating selected lines, words, or phrases and determining if and where lines, phrases, or words should be repeated for emphasis. You cannot change the original words, but a few words may be added to create necessary transitions, to differentiate among pronouns, etc.
At the end of your poem, include a list of the lines you used from Macbeth to create your Found Poem. Cite all of these lines.
