ABOUT MRS. OTTINGER

I am so happy to welcome this year's class to Bluff Creek and fourth grade!  No matter what the year brings our way, our focus will creating a comfortable community of collaborative learners.  As a class we will practice being flexible and we will remind each other that we are doing our best.  It's going to be a great year!  I am excited to learn all about every single student I have this year.

Maybe you want to know a bit about me?  I grew up in the West Central Minnesota town of Montevideo.  I received a BA from Concordia College, Moorhead.  I earned a MPA from Hamline and after I decided to change careers, a MAT from St. Thomas.  I have been a teacher for 18 years.  Before I was a teacher, I worked for 15 years for a church related non profit agency in downtown Minneapolis as a Director of Facilities.

I am married and have one grown son.  My husband Doug is originally from Indiana and works in logistics for Michael Foods.  Though I am a dog person, sadly we don't have a dog at this time.  We have lived in Carver since 2008.

My absolute favorite thing to do is read. I was an early adopter of the Kindle and browse books on Amazon almost every day.  My "TBR" (to be read list) is a zillion books long.  (I like hyperbole, too!)  I enjoy many genres, but I especially enjoy history and historical fiction, particularly stories about WW II.  Other things that I like to do are relax at our lake house (it is north of Grand Rapids), watch the Wild or the Vikings, or watch any Big Ten football or basketball team.  Since my husband is a graduate of Purdue University, we can sometimes be divided on who to cheer for!

I hope all my new students and their families are as excited for school to begin as I am.  We have so many fun things to learn in 4th grade!   If you have any questions, please send me an email:  ottingerc@district112.org
