Get it Centered, holding finger still until wobble moves closer to it. Stop when wobble is nearest your finger and push the pot away half the distance it was wobbling. when it is centered within 1/8", stick wads of clay to keep it from sliding

Double check your centering and do any fine tuning you need to before starting to trim.

If there's a bit of the corner that is messed up from pre-trimming or picking up the pot, you can use a needle tool to cut off the bottom corner. this makes a bevel that is centered perfectly with where you have your pot placed.

right next to your bevel, trim away the extra clay near the foot of the wall. If you leave the edge of your bevel a little thicker, this forms a glaze catch.

LAST, do the inset foot. make sure it is still centered and don't trim all the way to the outer edge, so that the foot ring is durable. be careful not to trim too deep, or you will trim through. Check thickness often

take the pot off the wheel, look at it from different angles, check the weight and thickness of the pot as well as the aesthetics (if it looks nice) then fine tune your shapes and sign by carving name, date and class period into the inset foot or bevel.
