The Student Makers Market is a cool event where students become “Makers” and sell handmade items they craft themselves. This event is a chance for participating students to explore their creativity, learn basic business skills, and share their handmade crafts, art, and other creations with the Iron Horse community.

How to Become a Maker
Sign up to be a Maker by completing the business application form HERE.
Makers create their own items – crafts, art, gifts, or anything school-appropriate they’d like to sell.
Items not allowed: any weapons or weapon-like crafts, controversial or offensive items, beverages, and items not age or school-appropriate.
Makers planning to sell food items must follow the Food Selling Requirements outlined below.
All items must be student made – no store bought or parent-made items.
An adult is required to be present at each booth for the duration of the event for supervision and support (the student remains the Maker and primary seller).
Application Deadline: Friday, March 20, 2026
All makers and their accompanying adult must be able to attend the full duration of the event on Friday, April 17, 2026 from 5:00-7:00 p.m. Setup begins at 4:00 p.m. and cleanup does not begin earlier than 7:00 p.m.
Food Selling Requirements
Makers may sell nonperishable, shelf-stable food items that are prepared and individually packaged before the event and clearly labeled with all ingredients.
Due to food safety protocols, no items requiring hot or cold storage may be sold, including beverages.
Allowable examples include:
Rice Krispie Treats, cookies, breads, muffins, cake pops, biscuits, scones, marshmallows, popcorn balls, caramels, and candied apples, etc.
Cost to Participate
There is no fee to participate as a Maker
Makers are fully responsible for the cost of the supplies they choose to use to craft their items, decorate their tables and display their items.
Pricing Guide
Suggested prices should range between $1.00 and $10.00 per item.
Earnings & Money Handling
Participating Makers keep 100% of the money they earn. It’s your business and you deserve to benefit from your hard work.
Each booth is responsible for bringing its own change and/or cash “box”.
Depending on your price list, consider bringing – quarters, $1 bills, $5 bills and $10 bills
It is your option to accept digital payments if you’d like.
PTA does not provide Wi-Fi or electronic payment devices
Any digital payment setup is the responsibility of the Maker’s family.
Booth Setup Requirements
Each booth should have only one (1) 4-6 ft table provide by the Maker
A sign with the business name clearly displayed
A sign with all ingredients clearly displayed (for food sales only. Please see Food Selling Rules)
Price list detailing cost of each item you’re offering.
Displayed Business License (provide by PTA after the application approval process)
Optional (but highly encouraged): A tablecloth, additional displays or decorations to showcase your products, and anything else to make your table catch shopper’s eyes.
Advertising
Makers who would like to have a flyer displayed on our social media channels and/or in the MPR, or would like a video on social media (no longer than 20 sec), please submit your ads in either PDF or PNG format for flyers or MP4 format for videos to info@ironhorsepta.com no later than March 27th.
ALL ADVERTISING TO THE SCHOOL COMMUNITY MUST GO THROUGH PTA. DO NOT POST YOUR OWN ADVERTISEMENTS AROUND SCHOOL PROPERTY.
Multiple Makers Per Booth
Multiple Makers may work together as one business.
Shared booths are responsible for deciding pricing, branding, and how earnings will be split.
