Join us for some graceful jigs and lively reels in IDAA's Intro to Irish Dance class, right here in Anchorage, Alaska! This is the perfect starting point for anyone curious about the lovely art of Irish dance.
Designed for absolute beginners, our class focuses on making learning fun and accessible. You'll be amazed at how quickly you pick up the foundational steps and movements in our supportive and exciting environment. No previous dance experience is needed – we'll guide you every step of the way!

has a certification with An Coimisium le Rinci Gaelacha
(Irish Dance Commission). She was born in Dublin, Ireland. She was a dancer with the Farrell Sisters School of Irish Dancing in Rochester, N.Y. The Farrell Sisters were Sarah Keegan and Bridget Maloney; Miriam’s mother and aunt. Miriam founded the Keegan Academy of Irish Dancing and started teaching Irish Dancing in 1992. Miriam founded the Irish Dance Academy of Alaska in 1997

Diana Hard has been immersed in Irish dancing since the age of five, following in the footsteps of her third-generation Irish dancing family. Under the guidance of her mother, Miriam Dean, and Patricia Hall with McTeggart Irish Dancers in Alaska and Arizona, Diana honed her craft and developed a deep passion for the art form. She holds a BA in General Studies with a focus in Education and English from the University of Nevada-Reno.

Our Fall 2025 schedule is holding classes Tuesday & Thursday 5:00pm - 5:45pm, and Saturday 9:45am - 10:30am. We encourage students to attend any combination of 2 out of the 3!
What are the age limits?

At least 5 years old. Yes we can accommodate Adults- reach out to us to discuss your options. Make Irish Dance a family activity!

Absolutely not! Our intro class is designed for the absolute beginner. If you have prior Irish dance experience please reach out so we can place you in the appropriate class.
How much does it cost?

Annual registration of $100 per student, or $125 per family. Monthly tuition $100 per student. This includes access to our google classroom, which has been a huge success to our motivated students practicing at home!

Our next Into Class begins in the fall August 12th 2025, we follow the Anchorage School District calendar. But never hesitate to reach out! Occasionally we get enough interest to start a new class, and can always notify you by email when our next class is close to starting! idaa.info@gmail.com

Intro Dancers should wear black shorts and a black t-shirt or tank top, white socks, and appropriate shoes for leaping around in- New beginners in the intro class may wear ballet slippers, jazz shoes, or even sneakers for the first month.
