What is PBIS?
Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports is a process for creating a positive school environment that is more predictable and effective for achieving academic and social goals. A key strategy of PBIS is prevention. PBIS creates consistent expectations throughout the building. The PBIS process focuses on our school’s ability to teach and support positive behavior expectations for all students. The main goal of PBIS is to help every child at TPS develop self-discipline to make positive choices.
Mission Statement
We the staff and students at TPS will work together with parents and community to create a safe and healthy learning environment in which the students demonstrate respect and caring for self and others.
School Wide Expectations
Be Safe Be Respectful
Be Responsible
Be Your Best
PBIS promotes a positive school
culture where students are safe,
respectful, responsible and
at their best!
PBIS process teaches, models
and reinforces appropriate
positive behaviors to create a safe
learning environment.
Parents are an important part of PBIS implementation. We encourage parents to use the same expectations and rules that the school teaches.
Parents can help by doing the following:
Ask your child about his/her day at school every day.
Make sure your child is ready for school every day by ensuring a good night’s sleep.
Keep in touch with your child’s teacher.
Practice positive phrases with your child such as, “Thank you for cleaning your room”, “Excuse me,” “Please” and “I am sorry.”
Encourage your child to use respectful language and tone.
Be active and visible in the school community.
Be a positive role model.
Look for the positives.
