The SAT is a standardized, digital exam created by the College Board to assess high school students' readiness for college and career, measuring skills in Evidence-Based Reading and Writing and Math. Its main purpose is to provide colleges with a common data point for comparing applicants' skills and potential for success, serving as a key component of the college admission process. Scores can also help students demonstrate their strengths beyond their high school grades, potentially improving their chances for scholarships and admission to desired institutions.
The ACT is a standardized, curriculum-based test that measures a high school student's academic skills and readiness for college. Developed in 1959 as an alternative to the SAT, it has become one of the two most common college entrance exams in the United States.
The CLT, or Classic Learning Test, is a college entrance exam and suite of assessments designed to evaluate students' critical thinking skills in Verbal Reasoning, Grammar/Writing, and Quantitative Reasoning. Its purpose is to serve as an alternative to the SAT and ACT, focusing on classical education principles, providing insights into student abilities, and acting as a catalyst for educational renewal by emphasizing knowledge and virtue. The CLT is available for grades 3–12 and is accepted by over 200 colleges and universities for admissions and scholarships.
