Notes:
Schools can have an Microsoft 365 / Google Workspace backup configured independently of onsite server backups.
A school has a single quota which is a combination of all onsite and cloud backups.
Passwords to the Redstor accounts can be reset by emailing mark.whitman@intermit.co.uk.
Account Setup
Email mark.whitman@intermit.co.uk and provide the following information:
Subject: Redstor Microsoft 365 / Google Workspace Request
Hi Mark,
Please can you set up a login for the following school.
School Name:
intermit@ email address:
Wait for a reply email from Mark W confirming that the that the invite has been sent.
Login to the intermit@ school mailbox and locate the email from noreply@redstor.com with the subject Welcome Invite > select Verify Email.
Note: If the link does not work, the invite may have expired, please ask Mark W to resend the invite.
Complete the instructions depending on the mail system used by the school:
Office 365 Select Microsoft > login with the school's intermit@ email address > Accept the permissions.
Gmail Select Email > enter the intermit@ email address > Continue > enter
Other service Select Email > enter the intermit@ email address > Continue > enter
Select Get Started > scan the QR code into your authenticator app.
In step 2, select Show setup key > copy and paste the secret key into a Google Chat message to Mark W or Justin > Continue.
Enter the MFA code from your authenticator app > scroll through T&Cs and tick to accept > Continue.
Configuring up a backup
Navigate to https://app.redstor.com and login with the school's intermit@ email account.
On the left, select Microsoft 365 / Google Workspace > top-right, select Add > Add backup set > select the product that you wish to set up > Sign In.
Login using your intermit@ credentials for Microsoft 365 / Google Workspace > Accept the Redstor permissions.
Select the items that you wish to backup > select Save.
Select Overview > repeat from Step 2 to include additional Microsoft 365 / Google Workspace services.
Google Workspace
To calculate storage usage for Google Workspace, perform the following:
Login to the Google Admin portal > open the Reports page.
Obtain the figure from the What's the storage being used? box.
These exclusions will filter out most temporary files and application data from the Redstor backup - this will apply to your K9Server
To add these, open the Redstor console on K9Server / CC4 server (or whichever server hosts user files) and perform the following:
Select Options > Global Exclusions.
Enter the following in Exclude these files:
~*.*
*.crdownload
*.ipsw
*.partial
*.tmp
*.unconfirmed
Enter the following in Exclude these folders:
$RECYCLE.BIN
AppData (for K9 networks)
Application Data (for CC4 networks)
Select OK.
A bug with the Jetty web server used by Redstor causes the CPU to throttle on servers.
