The CE marking is a mandatory European marking for certain product groups to indicate conformity with the essential health and safety requirements set out in European Directives. The CE Mark (an acronym for the French "Conformite Europeenne") certifies that a product has met EU health, safety, and environmental requirements, which ensure consumer safety.

UL Mark is issued by UL (Underwriters Laboratories Inc.) - U.S. privately owned and operated product safety testing and certification organization. UL mark indicates compliance with both Canadian and U.S. requirements for electronic devices.

The Safety Rating is comprised of 2 parts: the Category Code and the Voltage Rating. The Category Code is determined by the maximum transient voltage the meter can withstand. The Voltage Rating is the maximum working voltage of the circuit that the meter can be connected to.

The Meter with CATII 400V Safety Rating is designed for use with single-phase receptacle connected loads (Office Equipment, Household appliances etc.). Max. voltage rating of these devices shouldn't exceed 400V.

The Meter with CATIV 600V Safety Rating is designed for use with devices connected to raw voltage distribution lines and/or located outside (Pole Transformers, Service Drops, Overhead/Underground lines etc.). Max. voltage rating of these devices shouldn't exceed 600V.

This mark indicates products that are available with optional calibration traceable to NIST (National Institute of Standards and Technology, a U.S. Government agency within the Commerce Department).

FCC Certification. This mark indicates this equipment has been tested and found to comply with the limits for a digital device, pursuant to part 15 of the FCC Rules. These limits are designed to provide reasonable protection against harmful interference when the equipment is operated in a commercial or residential environment.

Ingress Protection (IP) ratings are developed by the European Committee for Electro Technical Standardization to specify the environmental protection an enclosure provides. The IP rating normally has two (or three) numbers:

  1. Protection from solid objects or materials
  2. Protection from liquids (water)
  3. Protection against mechanical impacts (commonly omitted)

With the IP rating IP54 the instrument is protected against dust limited ingress and against water sprayed from all directions.
