STOP FOOD WASTE AND BE SUSTAINABLE AT JOSEP PUIG I CADAFALCH SCHOOL!

LET'S RAISE AWARENESS AMONG STUDENTS IN PUTXI!


Our community action project consists of raising awareness among students in Josep Puig I Cadafalch regarding food waste and sustainable food. During the year, we have observed that there is a lot of food waste in our school, specially in our playground. We aslo would like to make people aware about how important sustainable food is.


Our objective is...

is to reduce food waste and show how important it is to eat local and sustainable healthy food.

  1. School Observation

We have observed that there is a lot of food waste in our school, specially in the playground, and we want to... TAKE ACTION!

2. An interview to a supermarket's responsible


A group of students went to several local supermarkets to get some information about Food WASTE.


They interviewed the managers of the supermarket who gave them interesting and relevant information .They all agreed that a lot of food is wasted. The type of food that is usually thrown away is yogurts, fruit, meat and vegetables.

To make people eat more healthy food, the manager suggested putting healthy food products in a more visible place in the supermarket and increasing the prices of unhealthy food products.



3. A survey about food waste and sustainability at our school

  1. We expected that most of our school mates ate healthy food. The results obtained show that 69,8% of students eat healthy food, although not everybody knows what healthy food really is.

3. beofore the survey, We assumed that most student at our school used aluminum foil to wrap their sandwiches. after the survey, we were surprised since 53.5% of students in Josep Puig i Cadafalch used aluminum foil while the rest used others kinds of wrappings.

5. We thought the majority of students of our school use “Boc and Rolls”, the 72,9% of students of Josep Puig i Cadafalch don’t use “Boc and Rolls”.

2. We thought the students don’t eat some sandwich, 68,2% of students in our school usually eat a sandwich.

4. We thought the students don’t finish their breakfast, 79% of students finish their breakfast.

6. We thought the students like the idea of a “nutritional week”, the 15.5% of students of Josep Puig i Cadafalch don’t like the idea of a “nutritional week”.

4. Our campaign: we displayed several posters over the school related to food waste. We want more visibility for a global change!

6. Healthy Putxi Week

We made this poster for our camapign in our institute. Which collaborates in the international project Global Scholars. The campaign's objective is to reduce the Food Waste in our high school and make aware of the our students aware about sustainable and healthy food consumption. In our project we include a Healthy Week where we give healthy food for three days at time of playground.
