Maundene Weekly
________________________
Dear Parents/Carers,
Year 4 have been enjoying their swimming lessons this week and with such great mindsets they have all made so much progress! They have settled into the swimming routine very quickly which has meant they have been making the most of their time in the pool. Well done to all of Year 4 for demonstrating so many of our Maundene values. It is the turn of Year 5 next week and we know they will love swimming just as much as Year 3 and 4.
The week has also been super busy for the rest of the school which has included some of our Year 6 pupils sitting the Medway 11+ on Tuesday and Wednesday. They all tried their absolute best and showed such resilience - you were all superstars and we are very proud of you no matter the outcome of the test.
Year 5 have been working on their sketching skills using grids to guide them in their art lessons. The outcomes clearly showed that they observed the lines extremely carefully, used the grids to identify where to sketch and as if by magic amazing elephants appeared! We cannot wait to see some of them displayed on their final outcomes display board at the end of the term.
In EYFS, Year R have been working collaboratively together in their outside area and even managed to build a bridge! They became problem solvers and used their team work to move the pieces carefully to extend it across the whole outside area. They also had fun exploring the junk modelling items brought in from home to create their own homes - what busy bees Year R have been this week.
Year 2 have been working hard on their arithmetic skills and recalling their understanding of digit values in maths. They then enjoyed playing a speedy game of Daily 10! Amazing mathematicians Year 2, well done. Year 3 were also busy in their maths lessons and were developing their understanding of partitioning numbers up to one thousand - they looked carefully at the ones, tens, hundreds and thousands. Year 1 have been learning about the past and present verbs in their English learning. They carefully cut out the words ending in 'ed' and 'ing' and sorted them into the correct columns.
Year 3 participated in an amazing Stone Age workshop on Friday full of exciting and different activities. The children engaged so well with everything and gained lots of new knowledge. The people leading the session visit lots of schools up and down the country and complimented on Maundene children being some of the best behaved and engaging children they have worked with. Such a big compliment to receive and so well deserved Year 3! You should be very proud of yourselves - thank you for being an absolute credit to yourselves, parents and the school community.
Have a lovely weekend and see you all on Monday.
Miss Capes, Mrs Jackson and the Maundene Team
Once again we have had concerned residents from around Maundene school complain about inconsiderate parking at drop off and pick up times. Please can you ensure you are not parking across driveways or in allocated bays. We strongly encourage people to if you can or park in Morrisons car park and walk up to school.
