Maundene Weekly

Dear Parents and Carers,
It has been a significant day of reflection and learning across the school as we marked two important milestones.
This morning, we held a whole-school assembly to commemorate VE Day. We discussed the historical importance of this date and the sense of relief and hope it brought to the nation in 1945.
We also looked at how the themes of the day link to our school values. The resilience shown by those during the war years mirrors the persistence we encourage in our pupils, while the focus on peace aligns with our commitment to kindness and mutual respect within our school community.
In Key Stage 1, the children celebrated Sir David Attenborough’s 100th birthday. They marked this incredible milestone by joining schools across the nation to take part in a virtual celebration. It was a fantastic opportunity for our pupils to feel part of a wider community as they recognised Sir David’s lifelong dedication to the natural world.
Have a wonderful weekend.

Photographs and Social Media While we love having parents join us for learning sessions and assemblies, please remember that any photographs or recordings taken must only be of your own child. Under no circumstances should images or videos featuring other children be shared on any social media platforms.
Mobile Phones We would like to remind pupils and parents that mobile phones must be handed into the school office upon arrival. Mobile phones should not be used once pupils are on the school premises.
Morning Supervision & Ball Games Please be reminded that school staff are not on duty in the playground before the start of the school day. If children are using the outdoor play equipment in the morning, it is the responsibility of parents to supervise them until the doors open at 8.40 am. Additionally, ball games are not to be played on the playground before school to ensure everyone stays safe during this busy time.
Dogs on School Site A gentle reminder that dogs are not allowed on the school site at any time. This includes carrying small dogs or leaving them at the school gates.
Safety Notice: If the gate barrier is open in the morning, please do not walk down the driveway. This is to ensure pedestrian safety as vehicles may be entering or exiting.
This week, our Green Team met with representatives from all ten schools in our trust to discuss our role as future custodians of the planet.
During the meeting, pupils from across the Inspire Partnership collaborated to share ideas on how we can become more sustainable. The group focused on identifying the small, manageable steps we can take as a school community to make a positive difference. It was excellent to see our pupils working alongside peers from all our partner schools to help protect the environment for the future.
Our pupil litter pickers were out in force today, working hard to keep the school site looking its best. Taking pride in our surroundings is a key part of being a responsible member of the Maundene community.
A huge thank you to Mr Levey and all of our wonderful pupil volunteers who gave up their time today. Their hard work and effort in maintaining a clean environment for everyone is greatly appreciated.
A quick reminder regarding our school uniform policy: for the safety of all pupils, particularly during playtimes and PE, please ensure that children do not wear hoop earrings. Only plain stud earrings are permitted. This is a necessary measure to prevent any avoidable injuries during school activities. We appreciate your cooperation in keeping our pupils safe.
We have recently noticed an increase in children bringing 'donut' and 'dumpling' squishy toys into school. While we understand these are currently very popular, they are becoming a significant distraction in the classroom and, in some cases, causing upset on the playground.
As a result, we must ask that these toys are not brought into school. Please ensure your child leaves these items at home to help us maintain a focused learning environment for all children. We appreciate your cooperation in this matter.

The JLT had a very productive meeting this week to discuss several important school matters. They spent time discussing behaviour across the school and shared their ideas for future clubs they would like to see made available for pupils.
Furthermore, the team began the exciting process of planning for the special assembly they will be holding later this term, which will focus on British Values. To round off their busy week, they have also collated a list of enthusiastic volunteers to take part in litter picking to help keep our school looking fantastic.
