Maundene Weekly

Dear Parents and Carers,
What a week of British weather! We’ve become experts at dodging rain showers and catching the sunshine at playtime. Inside, it has been a fantastic, busy week of learning. Here is what our classes have been up to:
EYFS: Solved addition problems in maths. In English, they learned about bees, tasted honey, and wrote down facts about them.
Year 1: Explored place value up to 100 in maths. In English, they dived into the environmental story Captain Green and the Plastic Scene.
Year 2: Started their new core text, Vlad and the Great Fire of London. In maths, they've been building and reading pictograms and block diagrams.
Year 3: Mastered times tables in maths. In English, they started their new book, Fish in a Tree, and wrote beautifully about emotions.
Year 4 (MTC Superstars! ): A massive well done to Year 4 for completing their Multiplication Tables Check! Their focus and determination were amazing to see, and all their hard work has truly paid off. In English, they explored characters from Romeo and Juliet.
Year 5: Practised adding and subtracting decimals in maths. In English, they also dived into Shakespeare, exploring the characters of Romeo and Juliet.
Year 6: Solved complex, multi-step problems in maths and started their powerful new core text, Pig Heart Boy.
Thank you for your continued support. Have a wonderful weekend.
Miss Capes, Mrs Taylor and the Maundene Team
Please be aware that there will be no one available to man the school crossing on Tuesday 9th June. Please take extra care when arriving at and leaving the school on this day.
Details have already been sent out, and we are really looking forward to welcoming you all and coming together as a school community to celebrate sports! As always with the British summer, we are keeping our fingers crossed for sunshine. Should we need to cancel or postpone due to the weather, we will let you know as early as possible.
At Maundene, we deeply value the strong partnership we have with our parents and carers, and we always want to work together to support our children. To maintain a safe and positive environment for everyone, we kindly remind all visitors that our staff must be spoken to with respect. Abusive or aggressive language will not be tolerated under any circumstances. Thank you for your cooperation in ensuring our school remains a safe, welcoming space for the entire community.
A quick reminder regarding our school uniform policy: for the safety of all pupils, particularly during playtimes and PE, please ensure that children do not wear hoop earrings. Only plain stud earrings are permitted. This is a necessary measure to prevent any avoidable injuries during school activities. We appreciate your cooperation in keeping our pupils safe.
Well done to the following children -
Dimitar in Finches. He was recently awarded Coach's player of the week by his football team in recognition of his outstanding effort, teamwork, and performance during recent matches and training sessions
Gracie in Blackbirds for achieving level two at gymnastics.
Emma in Blackbirds for achieving star of the week at swimming and for reaching level 2.
Jake in Owls. His football team recently won a football tournament.
