Respect Collaboration Kindness Perseverance Honesty Responsibility
Delce news from the Headteacher
Dear Parents and Carers
What a whirlwind of events it's been here at school! We've packed in a variety of exciting and important events, and I wanted to take a moment to share some highlights with you.
To celebrate Safer Internet Day, we dedicated time to discussing online safety with all children. We covered important topics like responsible browsing, recognising scams, and protecting personal information. It was great to see the children actively engage in these conversations and demonstrate their growing awareness of digital citizenship.
This week also coincided with Children's Mental Health Week, and we incorporated mindful activities and discussions into our daily routines. We encouraged open communication about emotions, celebrated the importance of self-care, and reminded everyone that help is always available if needed.
Year 4 embarked on a fascinating trip to St Justus Church, where they learned about Christianity, its values and traditions. Meanwhile, Jackson's class had a blast exploring the wonders of nature at Wingham Wildlife Park. These hands-on experiences provided valuable learning opportunities and helped foster a sense of connection to our community.
We hosted a fun and informative healthy eating workshop for the children organised and led by Chartwells. They learned about making healthy choices, explored the power of balanced meals, and even got creative with some delicious and nutritious snacks. It was a great way to encourage healthy habits and empower them to make positive choices about their well-being.
PCSO Rowan visited our Year 4 classes to talk about discrimination and the importance of treating everyone with respect. The children had an engaging discussion about inclusivity and understanding different perspectives. This visit continues our commitment to fostering a positive and respectful school environment.
And last but not least, Goulding Class took the stage this week with an amazing assembly that left everyone impressed! Their performance was not only entertaining and engaging, but also informative and delivered with impressive teamwork. It was clear that a lot of hard work and dedication went into their preparation, and it truly paid off. Their performance was a fantastic showcase of their creativity, confidence, and collaborative spirit. They should be incredibly proud of themselves and we know they have even more amazing things to come!
As always, there's much more to our week than these highlights, but I hope this gives you a glimpse into the busy and enriching learning experiences your children are enjoying here at Team Delce.
Enjoy your half term and stay safe!
See you all on Monday 19th February 2024.

'At Delce We Do Belong'
Our Core Value this term: KINDNESS
Kindness grows like sunshine bright,
Making everyone feel just right.
Not just friends with two legs tall,
But birdies chirping, puppies small!
Gentle hands, like fluffy paws,
Help friends up without a pause.
Share your crumbs with hungry birds,
Build a fort for lonely words.
Kind words like tickles, light and sweet,
Chase away sad tears we meet.
Tell your friend they're super cool,
Draw a sunshine in their school.
Listen when a friend feels blue,
Hug them tight, say "I love you!"
Kindness, like a magic string,
Makes the world a happy thing!
From ladybug to giant tree,
Share your kindness playfully.
With happy hands and words so sweet,
Make the world a joyful treat!
To promote our core value of KINDNESS, we would like to invite our Delce family to read a story together at home.
This week’s recommendation is: The Present
What is this story teaching us?
You can also sing along at home with our Kindness Song
Inventors
Today, the Inventors class wasn't just learning about kindness, they were living it! Inspired by their core value for the term, each child surprised a friend with a heartfelt compliment. These simple words, like magic spells, brought smiles to faces and warmed the classroom air.
Year 3
This week in Year 3, the children have been exploring children's mental health during children's mental health week.
They have been learning new skills such as tying their shoe laces, writing their peers cards of kindness and completing a Delce Daily Mile!
Year 4
This week, Year 4 visited St Justus Church to complete our learning journey in RE.
We explored the variety of items within the church and even got to witness an example of a baptism.
Year 5
Year 5 children recently embarked on an exciting journey back in time to ancient Greece during our themed day celebration. Immersed in the rich cultural heritage of this era, they enthusiastically embraced the art of pottery-making, crafting their own masterpieces inspired by ancient Greek designs.
Year 6
In Year 6 this week, children have become newspaper reporters, where they have researched and then written their own newspaper reports based on a current event. They also finished their own art outcomes inspired by our focus artist, Sam Cannon.
DEC
Jackson class had an amazing trip to Wingham wildlife park and showed impeccable learning behaviours. We enjoyed seeing the animals who are affected by deforestation.

Uniform
Just a quick reminder about some key aspects of our school uniform policy.
For everyone's safety and comfort, please ensure your child wears sensible, enclosed shoes to school.
Trainers are acceptable for PE lessons only.
Shoes should fit well and provide good grip on all types of terrain, especially in wet weather.
Make-up, including nail varnish, is not permitted.
General Uniform Reminders:
Please ensure all uniform items are clearly labelled with your child's name to avoid any mix-ups.
If your child requires any uniform adjustments due to growth or allergies, please contact the school office for guidance.
Thank you for your cooperation in ensuring our children dress comfortably and appropriately for a positive learning experience.

Our Delce girls had a fantastic football match on Tuesday against Allington! Both teams played like superstars, whizzing the ball around, making amazing tackles, and showing real team spirit. Both teams kept trying their hardest and created loads of exciting chances. Everyone cheered because they played so well and had so much fun. Well done to all the Delce girls and the Allington team too! You were all brilliant! ⚽️
Our very own, Hadley competed in a Subbuteo tournament in Paris, France. This tournament was to boost his world ranking, hopefully making the top 20 players in the world! He will be competing in a World Championship later this year.
"I competed in a tournament last weekend, against some of the top players in the world. I even played against a World Champion! I came 6th in the tournament which has helped me prepare for the World Cup later this year! I travelled to Paris to compete and next month I might be playing in Belgium."
Family and Community Information
Respect Zigzag Lines for School Safety
Here's why these lines are non-negotiable:
Unobstructed Visibility: Parking or stopping on the zigzags obscures the view of both drivers and pedestrians, making it difficult to anticipate each other's movements. This significantly increases the risk of accidents, particularly involving children whose smaller stature makes them less visible.
Prioritising Safety: Children are naturally more impulsive and less attuned to potential dangers on the road. The clear space created by the zigzags allows drivers ample reaction time to brake safely in case a child darts out unexpectedly.
Respecting the Rules: Disregarding the designated no-parking zone within the zigzags not only jeopardises safety but also sets a negative example for children, potentially fostering disregard for traffic regulations in general.
Therefore, we urge everyone to:
Absolutely avoid parking, stopping, or even briefly dropping off within the zigzag markings. Utilise other parking areas.
Maintain heightened awareness when approaching the school zone. This includes slowing down and being extra vigilant for pedestrians.

SEND
A message from our SENCO, Mr Palmer...
Mr. Palmer's Parent Drop Ins
Each week Mr. Palmer will be available 9am-10am every Friday in 15 minute slots to discuss any concerns.
If you would like one of the 15 Minute Slots to discuss something, please use the QR code below to access the booking system.
Mr Palmer's Top Tip this week!
Is your child becoming overwhelmed, angry and struggling to regulate their emotions?
Make sure you help them to regulate before discussing their behaviour. Focus on the feelings they have rather than the behaviour to understand the triggers and tackling these. By tackling the triggers this will help the children to regulate.
Safeguarding at Delce
If relevant staff are not available and your concern is urgent you can contact:
Medway Children’s Services directly on 01634 334466 and / or,
The Police on 101 (non-emergency) or,
