Delce news from the Headteacher
Dear Parents and Carers
As we approach the festive season, I would like to take a moment to reflect on the wonderful sounds of children singing, and also remind you about our commitment to creating a safe and inclusive environment here at Delce Academy.
At our school, we firmly believe that there is no place for discrimination: bullying, racism, sexualised behaviours, intimidation, or harassment. These destructive behaviors have no place within our school community, and we take a zero-tolerance approach towards them. Every child, parent, and staff member should feel safe, respected, and supported within our walls.
If you or your child ever experience or witness any form of discrimination or harassment within our school community, I urge you to come forward and let us know. We are here to address any concerns and ensure that they are dealt with swiftly.s we embrace the spirit of Christmas, let us remember that this time of year is also about thinking of others. Our core value of kindness will continue to guide us in our interactions and messages to our children. By fostering empathy, compassion, and understanding, we hope to instill in our children the importance of treating everyone with respect and dignity.
Upcoming Christmas events at our academy will provide opportunities for our children to come together and celebrate. We have planned a Year 2/3 Nativity, a Year 4/5/6 Caroloke, and our Friends of Delce Academy's (PTA) first event...Delce Disco! These occasions offer moments for us to reinforce the belief we hold dear for our community that: 'At Delce We Do Belong'.
Let us come together as a community during this festive season and spread joy, acceptance, and kindness.
Together, we can make Delce Academy a safe and inclusive place for all.
Have a happy and safe weekend!
Miss Stevens

Inventors
This week Inventors, have explored shape with a focus on 3D shape. We have used physical resources to help us to count the faces and edges.
Year 3
This week in Year 3, the children have been researching facts about climate change using a jamboard ahead of planning and writing their persuasive speeches.
Year 4
Year 4 have started to explore Area in Maths this week. We used post it notes to investigate how many different shapes we can make with the same Area.
In English, we have started to write our own persuasive letters to support the Rotary Shoebox appeal.
Year 5
Year 5 children have delved into the captivating work of artist Stephanie Peters, aligning their exploration with our current theme on natural disasters. Through their research and presentation skills, they have crafted fact files that not only showcase their artistic appreciation but also highlight the scientific aspects of natural disasters.
Year 6
This week in Year 6, we have been learning about microorganisms. The children planned & conducted an experiment where they tested the location in which bacteria grew the best. Some children chose to test the floors, whilst others tested the toilets! Eugh! Stay tuned to find out the grossest place!
DEC
Jackson class has been learning about Christianity. On Wednesday Lay Minister, Sid Mennie from St Justus Church Rochester visited us and we got to ask him questions about the ceremonies and celebrations of Christians. He brought us items that are important to Christians.

Anti-racist bullying workshop
Six children from the Delce Academy's anti-racist bullying team, took apart in an anti- racist workshop delivered on Zoom by the Diana Award. The children took part in a number of discussions around anti-racist bullying and shared their own experiences where they were either victims of racism or something that they had witnessed. Following the workshop the children have come up with some really good ideas of how they could promote anti-racism at Delce Academy. The anti-racist bullying ambassadors will meet with Mr. Minlah twice a month on Thursday mornings to share their ideas.
🏆 Congratulations, Grigor! 🎉
Well done on Grigor's outstanding achievement in the chess championship! Placing third out of 26 children is a remarkable accomplishment, showcasing his dedication and strategic prowess.
