Respect Collaboration Kindness Perseverance Honesty Responsibility
Delce news from the Headteacher
Dear Parents and Carers
As we race towards the summer holidays, this term is proving to be as exciting and action-packed as ever.
This week, we were delighted to welcome the Year 2 children from St Peter's Infant School. Their visit gave them a chance to explore their new school for next year, and we can't wait to have them join our school community officially.
Meanwhile, learning has been anything but ordinary! Year 5 has been swept away by the drama of Shakespeare, with a workshop inspired by Romeo and Juliet. They even got to act out scenes from the play! They also had a valuable visit from the local police, learning about what it means to be a police officer.
Year 6, on the other hand, enjoyed not only a fantastic trip to the beach today, but also a memorable sleepover at school last Saturday! While the sunshine might not have shown its face at the beach, both experiences were filled with laughter and fun memories.
A big shout-out to the Dickens Class for their fantastic class assembly! We all thoroughly enjoyed it and it was a wonderful showcase of their hard work and talent.
And finally, a huge round of applause to our YEE club for taking part in a go-kart race! Not only did they compete but they also built their very own vehicle – what an impressive feat!
Looking ahead, the next two weeks promise to be just as exciting! We have a packed schedule of events planned so be sure to check the school calendar for all the details.
Here's to a fantastic rest of the term!
At Delce We Do Belong!
Our Core Value this term: RESPONSIBILITY
The Broken Vase
A young fellow named Lou, with a frown,
Blamed the dog for the vase he knocked down.
But his mother said, "Son, face what you've done,
Just admit it and clean up the town!"
To promote our core value of RESPONSIBILITY, we would like to invite our Delce family to read a story together at home.
This week’s recommendation is: That rule doesn't apply to me!
Noodle is having a rough couple of days. The rules keep getting in the way of his fun! Rules for this and rules for that. There are so many rules - too many rules! Rules stink! And Noodle struggles because he doesn't think many of them actually apply to HIM! Can't he just have a rule-free day?
Our Learning
Get ready to embark on a journey through the learning achievements and activities of the week. From captivating classroom discoveries to inspiring moments of creativity, there's so much to admire and enjoy.
Let's dive in together and revel in the joy of learning!
Inventors
This week, Inventors have continued to explore the Olympics. We have considered what we complete different sports in the Winter and the Summer along with how the physical and human features affect this.
Year 3
This week in Year 3, the children have been learning about bar charts, pictograms and tally charts. They were able to ask their classmates about their favourite, colours and fruits are, they were able to record these in tally charts before moving on to record them in bar charts.
Year 4
Year 4 have thoroughly enjoyed taking part in their Roman Day this week. It was lovely to see so many children dressed up in their Roman costumes. They loved making Roman pots out of clay and learning how to make mosaics.
Year 5
This week, Year 5 had an exciting and educational visit from the local police force! The officers arrived in their police van and gave the children a hands-on experience they won't forget. The children had the chance to go inside the police van, try on real police equipment, and ask lots of questions.
Year 6
No sunshine on their beach trip, but the year 6 children had a blast. The beach became their playground and laughter filled the air. Sunshine wasn't needed; friendship and imagination made it a perfect day.
DEC
A photo from sports day. Amazing day!
This week, the DEC have been transitioning to new schools and classes. This has been very successful and the children have really enjoyed it.
We are continuing to enjoy cricket and have some real talented cricketers.
If any DEC parents would like to be part of the PTA, please let the office know. The DEC would benefit from having DEC parents advocating for DEC events.

Young Eco Engineers
Over the course of the year together, the children have truly embodied the spirit of teamwork and collaboration. Through countless challenges and obstacles, we have honed our problem-solving skills, finding innovative solutions and supporting one another every step of the way. Along the path, we have created unforgettable memories that will last a lifetime, moments filled with laughter, determination and camaraderie. The children have cheered each other on with unwavering enthusiasm, celebrating each victory and overcoming every setback as a united front. On race day, our collective effort and school spirit shone brightly, representing our school with pride and excellence. I am so proud of you and all you have achieved well done!
Well done Artin from Goulding class for winning the player of the season trophy at his local football club Woodpeackers FC.

Mr Palmer's Top Tip this week!
Is your child nervous about coming back to school in September?
Take some walks or journeys towards the school as you would od on a normal school day. That way the child will begin to get their mind ready for being back at school and will know from seeing the building that it hasn't gone anywhere and hasn't changed!

Important Information
Complaints procedures
At Delce, we aim to meet our statutory obligations when responding to complaints from our parents. Parents should follow our Complaints Policy that explains the procedures that should be followed.
Stage 1: Informal
The complainant should raise the complaint as soon as possible with the relevant member of staff or the headteacher as appropriate, either in person or by letter, telephone or email. If the complainant is unclear who to contact or how to contact them, they should contact the school office.
If the complaint is not resolved informally, it will be escalated to a Stage 2 formal complaint. The school will maintain a log of informal complaints and review this on a termly basis.
Stage 2: Formal
If the issue cannot be resolved through informal action the complainant should inform the headteacher in writing. This letter will be acknowledged within three working days. Formal complaints must be reported the local governing body. The local governing body must then be kept informed about progress and outcomes. This letter should provide details such as relevant dates, times, and the names of witnesses of events, alongside copies of any relevant documents. The complainant should also state what they feel would resolve the complaint.
For more details visit our website.
