Delce news from the Headteacher
Dear Parents and Carers
It has been an eventful week at Delce, and I am thrilled to share my immense pride in our pupils for their exceptional participation in Anti-Bullying Week. Witnessing the genuine enthusiasm and commitment to kindness displayed by our children has been truly heartening. Our pupils actively engaged in various activities aimed at fostering empathy and respect, reflecting the values we strive to instil.
We have also had some visitors this week.
On Tuesday, we were visited by our Vice Chair of Governors, Tracey Notley, who conducted a deep dive into the behaviours and attitudes in our school. We are proud to share the highlights of this visit with you:
the children were settled and engaged in their learning.
school is a calm and conducive learning environment.
there are clear expectations for behaviour.
the school demonstrates its commitment to fostering a positive learning environment.
the school prioritises inclusion and integration.
a sense of belonging promotes positive attitudes towards diversity and acceptance.
any concerning behaviours are addressed promptly and effectively.
Children spoke positively about the school, expressing feelings of safety and respect:
‘It is much calmer now’
‘You feel welcome’
‘I feel respected’
‘I feel safe and am happy’
‘I want to come to school now’
On Thursday, we welcomed our CEO, Rob Carpenter. It was really lovely to share our school improvements and for him to interact with our children. They made us very proud with their hard work and pride in showcasing their learning outcomes. Mr Carpenter was pleasantly 'blown away' by the time he spent with our children in the DEC. His visit not only added a special dimension to our week but also highlighted the incredible work our pupils and staff are doing to ensure Delce secures excellence.
We ended our week with Children in Need and thank you all for your efforts in supporting this national charity. There were wonderful examples of creativity and we look forward to sharing how much we have raised together. Please head over to our X page to see our learning and interactions this week.
Have a happy and safe weekend!
Miss Stevens

Our learning this week
Inventors
This week, Inventors have explored Anti-Bullying Week through a range of activities. On Tuesday, we wore odd socks to show our uniqueness and individuality.
Year 3
This week, year 3 have thoroughly enjoyed exploring the anti-bullying week. They have been making noise about bullying and learning how to show empathy and kindness to others.
Year 4
This week, Year 4 have been exploring the structure of teeth, and the purpose of the different types. They were very excited to make a model of a tooth with plasticine. We have also enjoyed activities to support Anti Bullying Week.
Year 5
In a dedicated effort to foster a safe and inclusive school environment, our Year 5 students have been actively engaging in anti-bullying initiatives throughout the week. They have channelled their creativity into crafting powerful posters that convey messages of kindness and respect. Meaningful discussions have also been a cornerstone of their learning, allowing students to openly share their thoughts and perspectives on the importance of kindness and supporting one another.
Year 6
This week, Year 6 have thoroughly enjoyed researching climate change activists ahead of their biography English writing next week. The children learnt about the work of Sir David Attenborough, Dr Jane Goodall and several others.
DEC
The DEC have come together this week to complete activities for anti- bullying week. We have reflected on past behaviours and how others may have felt. We have practiced new skills that have helped us build teamwork within the DEC.
Pupil Voice Matters!
JLT
This week, the Junior Leadership Team (JLT) engaged with school governors, talking about various aspects of school life. The JLT members offered valuable feedback on student well-being and behaviour. Their insights provided a view of the school's journey, emphasising successful approaches and suggesting areas for improvement.
'Everybody was really excited about the odd socks photo.'
'It raised awareness because I didn't really know what bullying was until I had the assemblies.'
'Everyone got really excited about doing the poster.'

"Pottering" at Delce
Our after-school clubs are filled with excitement, and the children are thoroughly enjoying exploring different activities. Today, we want to shine a light on the Pottery Club, where our young artists are truly standing out. Their creativity shines through in each session, and they're crafting some fantastic pieces. A big shout-out to the teachers and children for making Pottery Club such a great experience. We're eager to see more of the amazing things they create in the coming weeks.
Children from the Sports Therapy group took part in a team building exercise. This week, the children were discussing how to prevent any bullying at the school and what they should do if they witnessed anyone being bullied.
Family and Community Information
Anti - bullying at Delce
We are thrilled to share the wonderful initiatives our young leaders at Delce have undertaken during the recent Anti-Bullying Week. Our children enthusiastically embraced the opportunity to spread awareness and promote kindness.
Our children kicked off the week by proudly donning mismatched socks to symbolise that we are all unique and special in our own ways. This fun and lighthearted gesture helped foster a sense of unity, reminding everyone that our differences should be celebrated.
In various interactive sessions, our pupils engaged in meaningful conversations about kindness and empathy. They explored what bullying is and, equally important, what it isn't. These discussions laid the foundation for a supportive and understanding school environment.
To empower our students, they learned about STOP (several times on purpose) boxes—safe spaces where they can confidentially share their concerns about bullying. This initiative encourages open communication, ensuring that every child feels heard and supported.
#BeABuddyNotABully
Our #BeABuddyNotABully poster contest has been a creative way for pupils to show off their artistic skills while spreading a message of kindness. The children were asked to create a poster inspired by # BeABuddyNotABully slogan. We will announce the winners on Monday!
The winning poster will become a permanent feature of the newsletter, website and will be the logo of the Delce Anti-Bullying campaign. This contest is a reminder for everyone to be a good friend and not a bully. It's awesome to see our school coming together to promote positivity and make sure everyone feels welcome.
Children in Need: Spots for a Cause
Delce children extended their compassion beyond our school gates by participating in a spotty clothes day, raising funds for the charity Children in Need. Through their creative and spirited outfits, our students demonstrated the power of collective giving and community support.
We are immensely proud of our pupils for actively engaging in these initiatives and contributing to a worthy cause. Together, we are fostering a culture of acceptance, kindness, and charitable giving at Delce.
Thank you to everyone involved—pupils, teachers, and parents—for making these initiatives a success.
11 Plus Parent workshop
We were delighted to welcome parents to our 11+ workshop, where they had the opportunity to learn more about grammar school tests for the upcoming year. This initiative reflects our commitment to supporting both pupils and parents in their educational journey.
