Delce news from the Headteacher

Dear Parents and Carers

It has been an exhilarating journey as your new Headteacher at Delce, and I am thrilled to share some of the wonderful experiences we've had since I arrived. The warm welcome from children and families alike has made my transition incredibly rewarding. Getting to know your children and their families has been an absolute joy, and I am truly honoured to be part of the Delce family.

One of the highlights has been witnessing our Year 3 children settling into their new school year with enthusiasm and determination. Their energy and curiosity are inspiring, and I can't wait to see them thrive throughout their time at Delce.

Our after-school clubs have been a massive hit, with children enjoying a wide selection of exciting activities that help them discover new interests and skills. It's heartwarming to see them so engaged and having fun, making each day at Delce a memorable one.

Our pupils have been making remarkable progress, and they've been excited to share their learning with me.

We're also immensely grateful for the collaboration and support we've received from our community. Your involvement and partnership have been instrumental in creating a positive and enriching environment for our pupils!

I can't express enough how excited I am about the bright future that lies ahead for Delce. With your continued support and enthusiasm, we can achieve great things together. Thank you for making me feel so welcome, and I'm looking forward to the incredible journey ahead!

Miss Stevens

'At Delce We Do Belong'

Our learning this week

Inventors

This week, in Maths Inventors have developed their understanding of addition and applying their number bonds to 10, to add beyond 10.

Year 3

This week in year 3, the children have been creating outfits using recycled plastic to highlight the issue of plastic pollution.

Year 4

This week in DT, Year 4 have explored the features and purposes of boats.  We then made our own origami boat listening very carefully and following instructions.  We have also been busy creating a letter using our core text 'Azzi in between'.

Year 5

Our brilliant young writers have been deeply engaged in a captivating exploration of Tsunamis. They have been diligently working on crafting non-chronological reports, delving into the intricacies of these natural phenomena. Through this immersive learning journey, our students not only honed their writing skills but also actively participated in meaningful discussions, enhancing their understanding of Tsunamis and the impact they have on our world.

Year 6

This week, Year 6 have thoroughly enjoyed writing their persuasive speech as the 'Black Mamba' - the leader of the gang in our core text. Furthermore, Year 6 have produced some excellent artwork in the style of our focus artist, Kim Guthrie.

DEC

DEC have enjoyed welcoming 2 new children and have showed amazing friendship skills and helped them feel included as part of the DEC team.

We hope you have a fantastic half term.

Pupil Voice Matters!

Our very first Junior Leadership Team (JLT) meeting was a big hit! The children and Ms Kogut got together to talk about what JLT want to do in the next year. JLT also planned a whole school assembly about the next term's school's value - Kindness. The children are excited to lead and show how important kindness is to make our school a better place. It's going to be a year full of caring and working together.

Family and Community Information

Dear Parents and Carers,

As part of the Young Eco Engineers project this term, the participants have been planning to raise funds to allow them to purchase vital safety equipment, allowing them to participate within the race.

The children have decided to partake in a Halloween inspired bake sale to raise these funds. We are now appealing for your kindness and support in donating any sweet treats to support us.

By partaking in this project, the children will be demonstrating the school’s ethos and values of collaboration, kindness, respect  and relationships.

The Young Eco Engineering team will be extremely appreciative of any donation made in helping to make this an event for the children to remember during their time at Delce.

Please, we ask  that any donations be sent into school by Wednesday 1st November.

We thank you once again for all your continuous effort and support to ensure that the children experience invaluable opportunities such as this on their academic learning journey.

Yours sincerely,

Young Eco Engineers.
