Risk Awareness: Hallways, elevators, break rooms, parking lots, and even social events are high-risk areas for accidental breaches of confidentiality.
Voice Carry & Eavesdropping: Even casual remarks about clients, patients, or workplace incidents can be overheard and misunderstood—or worse, shared outside the organization.
Limit Identifiers: Never mention names, room numbers, diagnoses, or other identifying details in open or shared environments. Use neutral or coded language if necessary.
Mind the Setting: Always pause to ask, “Is this the right place to have this conversation?” If not, move to a private area or schedule a secure meeting.
Professional Boundaries: Avoid venting, storytelling, or gossiping about confidential matters—even among coworkers—in informal spaces.
