Rio Bosque Wetlands Park: Winter Bird Tour

This virtual field trip is designed to immerse students into an extraordinary landscape found in the middle of the Chihuahuan Desert. Rio Bosque Wetlands Parks allows people to take a glimpse in the past when wetlands and riverside forests once graced the banks of the Rio Grande in the Paso del Norte region. This virtual field trip highlights this unique outdoor space and details the different bird species that could be found at the park during the winter.

Rio Bosque Wetlands Park Field Trip Activity

Using the video clips within the virtual field trip on the Pocketsights tour, students will complete the table included in the document linked below for birds found at the Rio Bosque. The student activity contains information about bird identification and bird classification. The virtual field trip gives examples of these different types of birds that can be seen at Rio Bosque.

Post Field Trip Activity

Now that you have become more familiar with bird species found at Rio Bosque Wetlands Park, head outdoors to document other bird species you can find. To do this, you will be using the iNaturalist App. You can download the app to your device here: https://www.inaturalist.org/. Simply sign up for an account and watch the video for instructions.
