Three functions of the intellect: Remember, Compare, Judge.

The loving intellect (Hindi: preet budhi), remembers, compares and judges in order to reduce the distance between the stage of the soul and the stage of the Supreme Soul.

The non-loving intellect (Hindi: vipreet budhi) becomes even more distant to perfection, through forgetfulness, worships, attachment, dislike.
