My name is Misun Yun (윤미선; Ph.D. in English, University of Cambridge), and I am an Associate Professor in the Division of English and European Studies at Inha University, South Korea. My research explores the intersection of nineteenth-century English literature, digital humanities, artificial intelligence, and digital cultural heritage.
Originally trained as a Victorianist, my early research focused on Henry James, late nineteenth-century periodical culture, and transatlantic literary networks. Over the past decade, my work has expanded toward computational literary studies, artificial intelligence, and digital humanities, with a particular focus on how computational methods can generate new forms of literary interpretation while remaining grounded in humanistic inquiry.
My research has been supported by interdisciplinary collaborations that bring together literary scholars, computer scientists, engineers, and social scientists. From 2022 to 2025, I served as Principal Investigator of the National Research Foundation of Korea (NRF) project, A Convergence Study for Deep Learning-Based AI Fiction Generation, leading an interdisciplinary team of eight collaborators from natural language processing, computer communications, science and technology studies (STS), and literary studies. The project investigated human–AI collaboration in creative writing and the broader implications of generative AI for literature and the humanities.

Building on this work, I currently serve as Head of the Humanities & AI Institute at Inha University (HAIIU), where I have launched the Incheon Coastal Dynamic Archive Research Project. This interdisciplinary initiative integrates humanities and natural science data to develop a dynamic environmental archive of the Incheon coast through AI, multimodal data, and digital archival methods. The project explores new models for environmental humanities by bringing together literary and cultural interpretation with scientific environmental data.
I received my B.A. in English Language and Literature from Seoul National University, my M.A. from King's College London, and my Ph.D. from the University of Cambridge. Before joining Inha University, I taught at Soonchunhyang University and worked as an HK Research Professor in Artificial Intelligence and the Humanities at Chung-Ang University.
Alongside my research, I am actively engaged in the international digital humanities community. I currently serve as Program Committee Co-Chair of DH2026, the annual conference of the Alliance of Digital Humanities Organizations (ADHO).
