First Word Records return to the Independent Label Market in Kings Cross on May 20th. They'll have an assortment of vinyl, CDs and merch from the label available, including releases by Children of Zeus, New Sector Movements, Kaidi Tatham and much more, as well as records from partners, CoOp Presents, Extra Soul Perception, Dimensions Recordings, Total Refreshment Centre and Excursions.
This featured track is taken from the label's most recent release, the return of IG Culture's quasi-group New Sector Movements - this one's the title track from the EP and features Allysha Joy (30/70) on vocals.
FUZZ CLUB
Fuzz Club is a London-based label independent record label. Established in 2012, it is now home to the Fuzz Club parent label as well as the recently launched Bad Vibrations and Rubber Duck imprints. Fuzz Club will be selling a tonne of recent releases from the likes of The Jesus and Mary Chain, Night Beats, Crows, Tess Parks, The Men, Breanna Barabra and The Vacant Lots, to name just a few.

Long-serving Japanese nu-jazz collective Kyoto Jazz Massive is back in focus again after a cool outing featuring Roy Ayers back in February. This time they're on Mukatsuku with this limited edition and hand numbered 7" featuring a pair of new edits of their 'Get It Together' tune Featuring Vanessa Freeman. The first is from Yoshi and is a glorious bit of big disco energy with diva vocals and sumptuous chord stabs. The second is an instrumental with backing vocals which then gets edited by Robin Lee & Nik Weston into something a little more free, loose and cosmic.

Originally founded by members of anarchist punk band Flux Of Pink Indians, One Little Independent Records was inspired by the DIY principles and ideals of independent labels such as that created by anarcho-punk band Crass. Lastman Group is a boutique music rights management company. Formed in 2017, Lastman brings true creativity and support to both new and established talent with equal passion. Their esteemed labels, Lastman and Think Twice Records, offer a diverse array of soul, punk, jazz, electronic music, and an abundance of other captivating genres. Scratchy turned 25 years old last year!
One day in 1997 a friend lent across the desk at the offices of 'The Good Van Guide' and suggested I record my debut album and release it myself - just like Patti Smith had done with her debut single, a cover of 'Hey Joe' back in 1974. I immediately picked up the phone and booked a recording studio. Scratchy Records was born.
Since then I’ve released plenty of my own stuff as ‘Bromide’ and more recently ‘Simon Bromide’ plus I’ve met a whole load of other idiots who wanted to foist their wares on unsuspecting record buyers, namely SE london noughties stage manglers The Rocks, postspacerockers Spork, genius artpop hermit Alvin Spetz aka ‘Full English Breakfast’ and ‘That Will Be Lunch’, gifted nick drake-inspired songsmith Matthew Neel, Bristolian Steve Winward-esque pianoman Jonny Velon, the John Grant and Dave Lee Roth in a golf buggy sounds of Coach Hop, Spanish singer/songer and ace movie scriptwriter Rafa Russo and most recently US 90s indie-inspired tunesmiths ‘The Volunteered’

SPEEDY WUNDERGROUND
The revered label headed up by producer Dan Carey alongside Alexis Smith and Pierre Hall has evolved at a staggering pace over the last few years, garnering numerous accolades including ‘Best Small Label’ at the AIM awards and ‘UK Producer of The Year’ at the Music Producer Guild Awards for Carey. Releases from the likes of Black Midi, Squid and Black Country, New Road have left The Quietus effusing: ‘The label has become genuinely prestigious. It is not ridiculous to wonder whether one day it will be looked back upon with the same reverence as labels like Factory, Sarah, Zoo or Creation receive today.’
Speedy Wunderground will be selling a limited number of promo copies of the sold-out English Teacher single ‘Song About Love’, signed copies of both the Moreish Idols EP ‘Lock Eyes and Collide’ and the Heartworms EP ‘A Comforting Notion’, as well as signed Heartworms Spitfire Airfix Kits: Heartworms linked up with Airfix to produce a limited edition set of Spitfire models as merchandise - a very unique, limited edition collaboration. Soundway’s Live for Love release comprises the two in-demand cuts previously released on Flamingo - the deep and dubby disco-workout ‘If I Love You (Instrumental)’ and soul drenched ballad ‘Live For Love’, coupled with two unreleased recordings rescued from the abyss after 45 years of collecting dust. The modern-soul-dancer ‘Thank You Baby’, backed by Jeanie Tracy and Martha Walsh, is a jewel that displays Cameron’s full range whilst the vocal to ‘If I Love You’ elevates the recording to dance-floor-ready.

We Are Busy Bodies is a label and music agency founded in 2005. The label is known for its eclectic and thoughtful curation of new releases and reissues. Their range from deep dives into South African and Japanese jazz and early electronic music to collaborative albums with New Age Doom and the late Lee "Scratch" Perry. Since 2019, the label has issued over 100 albums and will be launching three new subsidiary labels in 2023.

When Nicole O’Hara first started screen printing t-shirts by hand in her university’s print studio, the goal was to create conversation pieces- items of clothing that spoke to whoever was looking at them, or prompted people to speak to whoever was wearing them. What began with a one-off t-shirt proclaiming ‘YOKO ONO IS BIGGER THAN THE BEATLES’ (intended to both celebrate Nicole’s favourite artist and piss off vicious Beatles devotees) soon became a fully fledged concept- a collection of pieces inspired by music culture, that experiment with wordplay, and, most importantly, should not be taken too seriously.
Under the artist’s brand ‘WANNABE YOKO’, Nicole will be selling t-shirts and tote bags, including an ILM exclusive tote to carry all of your brand new records. The brand’s first release of caps will also be for sale- available at the market before anywhere else!'
