RS-NIRdark galaxies
The "Radio-Selected NIRdark galaxies" project involves several scientists mainly based at the University of Bologna (UniBo), the Scuola Superiore di Studi Avanzati (SISSA), and several other institutions across Europe and the rest of the world.
The Scientific Case
The project aims to characterize the so-called "Radio-Selected NIRdark galaxies": extra-galactic sources selected at radio frequencies and lacking an optical/near-infrared counterpart. According to our results, these sources could represent a population of massive dusty star-forming galaxies with an interesting role in the evolution of high-z massive galaxies.
Our Studies
Our group has published five studies in international peer-reviewed journals discovering and characterizing RS-NIRdark galaxies in the COSMOS field (one of the most famous extra-galactic fields in modern astronomy) and in the GOODS-N field. An additional study leveraging the new JWST data in COSMOS is currently under review. Find out more here.
