In Start Up, students explore entrepreneurship, creativity, and the art of transforming ideas into reality. They learn to generate innovative business concepts, master social media marketing, and delve into product photography and design. When we learned about the fires on Maui, we knew we had to do something to give back. We were learning about Typography in Design and applied what we learned to create Trucker Hats that we’re selling as a way to raise money for those on Maui. 100% of the proceeds from the sales of the hats will be donated to the Ho’ōla Maui Fund.
Cost - $20.00
Production will take 2-3 weeks after purchase
Hats come in black with white print or red with white print.
The brand and style of the hats to be produced are Otto Foam Front High Crown Golf Style Mesh Back Caps. To view, click here.

This project means a lot to me because it helps me to show what's on my mind and how I want to help Lahaina and its wildfires. I designed this hat to support Maui and its urgent cause, recognizing the tragedy of homes lost, lives affected, and individuals still missing. This project helps me to earn money for the Ho’ōla Maui fund. I can't help but imagine the devastating impact if it were my own family facing such a situation.

This project is significant to me because of the devastation caused by the Lāhainā fires. Homes and properties have been destroyed, leaving many displaced and distressed. Our mission is to raise awareness and inspire others to offer support through donations. All the proceeds from our sales will go to the Ho’ōla Maui Fund.

This project means a lot to me because it's an opportunity to design a hat that people, including myself, would love to buy to show our support for Lahaina. While not everyone may be aware, there are those who truly want to help Lahaina, and these are the folks who cherish the Maui culture. I put my best effort into creating a design that is both simple and meaningful, something that I believe others would also want to wear.

I'm doing this because I want to help people, really help people. I want to help Kanaka ʻŌiwi because I am one. I have never experienced or seen an entire town get scorched. However, God has given me the gift to feel and understand what others feel in my naʻao and my soul. My heart aches, and my head gets sore even thinking about it, but I know that if I can stand up and stay up, I can rise with the sun. Even though Haleakalā is on the east side and Lāhaina is on the west, the sun will shine over all north, south, east, and west. So if Lāhainā can and will rise with the sun there is nothing that they canʻt do. All Kanaka can and will be able to move forward with power and pride and stand up for what we believe. I know what's happening with the water rights. I know that before its modern name Lāhainā was known as Lele. It was covered with the most abundant and thick ulu forests. The kanaka there and still there have been able to move forward. We always get back up. IMUA KANAKA.

This project is really important to me because Maui is a place filled with the history of our ancestors and their wisdom. Just thinking about what the people in Maui are going through is really tough. We're working on this project to support Maui. We're making these cool products and selling them, and the money we make is going to help the people of Maui through the Ho’ōla Maui Fund.

The meaning of this project to me is supporting the cause of the Maui wildfire. People have suffered from this fire, and many people have lost family and friends. We hope to encourage more people to contribute funds to help restore Lāhainā. We want to spread the message and also be able to donate ourselves to help the people of Maui.

I made this design because kū ki'eki'e means to stand tall in 'Ōlelo Hawai'i. It says lāhainā stand tall. I chose this because I think that all the people in Lāhainā should stand tall and proud to know that they showed ho'omau and persevered through this time of hardship. I have some friends from the island of Maui and Lāhainā. I met them at a summer camp this past summer, and they were some of the nicest, funniest, chillest people I've met. To me this is more then just an assignment or a grade, this is for all those people in Lāhainā and all over Maui, who might be suffering.

What this project means to me is helping Maui move forward because I think it must be really tough for the people there. I know many people care about the Lahaina fire; it's all over the news. The reason I'm doing this is to raise money to assist the people who lost their homes and so much more. I think those who wear the hat I designed will not only help us contribute to the people of Maui, but also be a reminder when the news stops talking about Maui.

The reason I'm working on this project is to support the people affected by the wildfires. Those who live in Lāhinā lost so much - their homes, families, jobs, cars, and even their means of communication. When the fire first started, everyone thought it was something small that firefighters could handle, but it kept getting bigger and eventually destroyed the entire Lāhinā town. We're doing this project because we want to show our love and support for the Lāhinā community.

This project holds personal significance for me because witnessing the fires in Lāhainā has made me realize how fortunate I am. The design I created is my way of expressing the importance of unity among us as Kanaka and sharing our love with everyone, including each other. Since I can't be physically present to help and volunteer in Lāhainā, I designed this to offer my support. Any proceeds generated from this design will be directed to the Ho’ōla Maui fund. I'm doing this on a personal level to ensure that Lāhainā understands that their support extends beyond Maui, reaching as far as Hilo and hopefully even further across the world.

This project means more to me than just a grade. It symbolizes our recognition of the challenges faced by the people of Lāhainā and our support for their community. It's about showing the people of Lāhainā that we stand by you. I believe everyone in Hawaii cares about you and the history of Lāhainā.

This project means a lot to me. It's important because Maui holds a special place in our culture and history, and it's sad to see that knowledge being destroyed by wildfires. It's heartbreaking to think about what people are going through. Another reason this project is important to me is that Maui is such a beautiful island with amazing spots to relax and spend time with ʻohana, and it would be a real shame if all of that beauty gets burned down. So, we're working on this project to support Maui and help with the wildfires happening in Lāhainā. We're putting cool designs on trucker hats and using the money we make to donate to Maui.
