Polskie Towarzystwo Kobiet w Matematyce

On the Trails of Mathematics:

Cecylia Krieger-Dunaj and Her successors

Będlewo, 08.11.2024-11.11.2024

The conference will be the fourth in the series "On the Trails of Mathematics" which is one of the main activities of the association Polish Women in Mathematics (see the conference websites: https://konferencja.ptkwm.pl/ (2017), https://skwm.ptkwm.pl/ (2019), http://otowim22.ptkwm.pl/ (2022)).

The purpose of our conferences is to help promote the scientific achievements and merits of women whose research, professional activity and publications have made significant contribution to the development of science, mainly in mathematics and related fields. Of course, we are not limiting the conference to women participants only, as we have gender equality in mind and we would like to promote equal opportunity and equal treatment of women in the mathematical sciences.

This conference will be intended to honour the Polish mathematician – Cecylia Krieger-Dunaj and her successors in particular two women from Poland: Izabella Łaba and Nicole Tomczak-Jaegermann. All three are among the top scientists in the world in their fields of research, honoured with numerous awards by international scientific organizations. These women, through their achievements and outstanding contributions to the development of world science, can serve as so-called "Role Models" for all young scientists – not only for women, but also for men.

The conference is part of the global trend of appreciating the contribution of women to science and the world, see e.g. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:WikiProject_Women_in_Red

In addition, we would like to inform you that Springer Nature is very interested in our conference. For this reason, they suggest that presented papers can be submitted to Results in Mathematics alongside regular articles (the journal very rarely features special issues/collections.) Regarding APCs: Authors always have the choice to publish their research free of charge in Results in Mathematics, either by choosing the subscription route or by being eligible to publish their paper Open Access via one of Springer Nature’s Transformative/OA Agreements (See Publishing Options).

We would also like to inform you about our cooperation with the journals BioPhysMath, Didactica Mathematicae, Applicanda, and Antiquitates Mathematicae. They offer an accelerated publication process. Below is a list of contacts for the editors of each journal:

Registration for the conference is extended due to the summer break until October 15.

Plenary speakers: Izabella Łaba (University of British Columbia) and Peter Pivovarov (University of Missouri, student of Nicole Tomczak-Jaegermann).
